This review is about safety from the perspective of a visiting family. The falls themselves are amazing and deliver a captivating amount of water into a river with a strong current. The pay parking street spots and lots allow for easy access to walkways and bridges to view the falls from the top, side,and ground level.
However it is unclear how safe the park is the further you take the paths along the river away from the falls themselves. The bridges and benches were in more and more disrepair and graffiti increases. A group a teens up the hill under a bridge were heckling and make noises at people walking on the paths and we choose to cross the river at the next bridge and had to follow a path with a broken board walk with random clusters of teen couples emerging back onto the path and sounds of people cutting through the brushon the hillside. It felt very sketchy and it was 5:30 PM on a Tuesday in the summer. Also the park was actively being searched for a 12 year old girl who had gone missing there. Read moreOne of the more disgusting of the parks I've visited. Graffiti everywhere, closed trails that people crossed fences and gates to get to anyway. Trash everywhere and people urinating off the side of trials while women and children around. Absolutely disgusting. I for one will never be back. Graffiti, political Graffiti, terrible bathroom smells all over the park. Nobody keeps up with this park....
Read moreThis inner city escape is quite large and scenic. The river valley is cut by these falls and they are quite sizeable! This place is not secret, so expect a crowd. Lots of different trails and ways to access falls! Great in all seasons, the falls obviously run the hardest in the spring!
