This is now my second time here and I have truly enjoyed it both times. One of the hazards of resettling in enemy territory (Boo Twins, Vikings, Wild, and Timberwolves) is finding those soft places where you knew exactly what to expect every time and as I explore i find myself being drawn back into this spot.
I have something terrible to admit moving into cold country like this, even if it is just for a short while, but I'm trying not only to be vegetarian but also vegan. I'm failing miserably at the second half, but have been hanging pretty good with the vegetarian side. Both times I have been able to find something not only to fit the bill but also delicious and satisfying.
First, the look. This is a very typical bar. Long bar, televisions everywhere, plenty of beers on tap. Actually a perfect setting to watch sports and eat grub.
Of course that's where it changes. The grub here is very good. Hidden behind this facade of an industrial building with very typical dive bar look is a delicious menu. The southwest bean egg rolls were crispy and crunchy and the chipotle aioli is fantastic. Just enough spice to sweat, but also with great flavor.
Anyone who knows me on any level knows that I love cilantro and their Chipotle Salad is filled with this wonder weed. Lettuce, corn, black beans... all perfect. The surprise of it all was the chipotle vinagarette. Wow. I never imagined this flavor palate. I couldn't get enough of it.
My friend ordered the Mac and Cheese and she was immediately in love. Her exact words was, "It's like heaven met heave and bred food." She also the grilled cheese with tomato and avocado and I have to say, the one bite I took made me want to steal the whole thing. While this is about a 30 minute drive for me and...
Read moreI work right next to Macs. I've had their food on doordash but this was my first time actually coming in. I was on my break from work and I only had 30 minutes. Which yes, is risky going to a restaurant with that much time but I looked at the menu ahead of time and knew what I wanted. When I entered the restaurant I looked around for a host table or maybe a sign that said “Please seat yourself” but I didn't see either. So I just sat down and waited a couple minutes. Worried that I got the process wrong and therefore no one actually knew I had come in, and I'd just go unnoticed I went to ask a waitress if I just seat myself. She responded, “yes sit wherever you feel most comfortable someone will be with you shortly”. She seemed to be more attentive to her section than the other section I was sitting in so I moved to a table next to a table she was serving. I sat there for 17 minutes before someone who I assume just got there to take over the shift came and offered me a menu. At that point, it had been about 20 minutes since I first entered the restaurant and I only had 30 for my break. So I couldn't order anything and instead went back to work hungry and...
Read moreThe most excellent Rueben I’ve ever consumed in my life, a truly unfathomable sandwich. Dined here on a date on Thursday, we waited for a server at a table for 5ish minutes before giving up and sitting at the bar. Bartender fully ignored us in favor of talking to other staff and we had to wave over staff to get more sauces (which I HATE DOING, as someone in the service industry). I had my card on the counter for 5 minutes with our empty plates stacked next to us before the bartender even noticed. Every time I’ve dined in I’m ignored by staff and have to summon over servers/bartenders. This is an excellent “takeout restaurant,” but the service is truly awful in a way I’ve never experienced at any other restaurant in my life. I wish I could give the service 0 stars. Get your food to go and have an excellent...
