I used to spend a lot of time here when I would hang around Minneapolis. This is a great spot to get a pretty impressive view of the city right across the river while overlooking the dam. There are usually people walking, biking, or fishing around the park. When I would be around that area it seemed to be a pretty popular area to hang out and enjoy some of the things the area has to offer.

Great job repurposing this area into a park. Lots of paths that lead out to viewing areas of the wastewater area which is an amazing feat of engineering. Lots of benches to sit an enjoy the views.

This park is in such a wonderful part of the city. Any view of downtown is postcard worthy. No wonder the best images of Minneapolis are shot from this area.

The park’s location on Hennepin Island provides a unique vantage point for photography, especially at sunrise or sunset. It’s well-maintained, with paved paths and plenty of spots to enjoy panoramic views of the river and city skyline. Why not five stars? The park is relatively small, so it’s more of a quick visit than a full-day destination. Parking can be limited, and it’s seasonal—open from mid-April through October during daylight hours. Overall, Xcel Energy Water Power Park is a must-see for anyone exploring the riverfront. Whether you’re into history, photography, or just want a quiet escape in the city, this park delivers a...

When visiting the St. Anthony river front area, take the short stroll to Xcel's Energy Water Power Park. You will find plenty of park benches to soak in the sights of the Minneapolis sky line and the sounds of the Mississippi river flowing over the St. Anthony Falls. When visiting, I often find having the scenic overlook to myself right at upper pool of the falls. Visit when the river is at a high rate of flow. The sound of the water...
