New York Gyro Lyndale Ave — Restaurant in Minneapolis

I wanted to love it but I only liked it.

The good: stick to their gyros. Sooo freaking flavorful and they use a bigass pita/naan for the gyro. I got chicken and I swear it is everything. That chicken is seasoned to the bone (it's actually boneless lol). You have a bunch of sauces to choose from to customize it too.

But that's about it tbh. I got their student fries with meat, and I messed up bc I ordered it with their hot sauce and asked for extra lmao. The hot sauce literally has no spice to it; black pepper has more of a kick for you mild folks out there and that says a lot lol. So my fries just had an overwhelming tang flavor to everything that unfortunately was not pleasant. I also got their beef patty and beef pai. Honestly, idk which is which bc they both came in the same container but one of em has like a flaky dough and the other has a puff pastry (for the Chicagoans, it's a pizza puff lol). You can honestly skip both of these. The one with the flaky dough was just underwhelming: the beef was more like a beef paste that was underseasoned.

Overall, the store was super clean. They got that AC going. Lots of dine-in seating. I'd definitely go again just for their gyros (and possibly rice plates along with that mango lassi calling out to me). Avoid the...

Used the online ordering system for pickup. The online menus showed the Family Platter for 3 containing: chicken kabob, lamb tikka, chicken tikka, chicken and gyro meat, salad rice, and sauce.

The ordering system forced me to add additional items: Tzatziki, white or Cucumber Sauce, Pita Bread on side, Lettuce, Baklava, Large Size Fries, Bottled Water

I ordered two of these for a wedding party and was forced to order the extras on BOTH.

I picked up the order and on the drive to the party, the whole truck started smelling like fish. Which was super bad because my wife is very allergic.

When we got to the party, we find out that the trays contained a huge bed of rice and 3 assorted meats including fish. No gyro meat, no salad, no sauces. I received only one pita and that was the one I was forced to order on the side.

The side items, should have been doubled since I was charged for them, but I only received one of each forced item.

I emailed the store the next morning and was told they could do nothing for me and they would try to do better next time.

This is NOT acceptable. I never asked for a full refund. The food will be eaten by someone. I was only asking for a refund of the second set of forced add ons I...
