The Ultimate Collection of Amazing Mexican Restaurants in Minnesota🌽❗

Our neighbors recommended us this spot, so my partner and I came here one night for dinner on a random occasion, and unfortunately ended up having a relatively subpar dining experience. To begin with, our table and the menus given to us were very dirty and had lots of visible food tidbits, which made us have to clean things up a bit ourselves. That was okay, though, because I have experienced worse and wouldn't choose to let it impact my judgment to such an extent. I thought the only item that was solid was my lengua torta, which had a good amount of stuff inside ranging from meat to lettuce to mayo, and made me full in a very satisfactory way. A lot of the tacos were dry and reliant on the lime for a little bit of juice, including the birria tacos. My partner ordered the chicken, shrimp, and fish tacos, and thought they all tasted mediocre. Personally I enjoyed having some radishes because they cleansed my palate when needed. Another unfortunate event was that later that night, I experienced a severe stomachache and had to throw up. Granted, I have not tried their birria with consomé yet, which per my understanding was what made them famous since the beginning of time, at least according to a piece of newspaper I had seen next to the bathroom. Next time when I visit, I will try such instead, which I hope can provide me with an improved experience.

I am on the hunt for the best birria tacos in the Twin Cities. This was my third birria tasting. This local restaurant at 1526 East Lake Street has the real deal. Birria essentially is long braised meat in a mixture of spices. It is tender and flavorful. They have birria de borrego (sheep), birria de chivo (goat), and birria de res (beef) on soft tortillas or fried (dorado), complete with consomme, limes, and radishes. They were delicious! One of their specialties is quesadilla birria, loads of birria meat and loads of cheese inside a large fried flour tortilla. This is really, really good. I highly recommend you try this one. They have an extensive menu of many other items such as traditional tacos, including lengua and others, and a wide range of things like shrimp ceviche. The prices are great, and the food is very good. I had their horchata. While it was a bit on the sweet side, it was also quite good. We didn't get any, but they also have a selection of desserts, such as tres leches cake. Please bring your patience, as a lot of Spanish is spoken here. However, everyone was cheery and helpful. You cannot go wrong here. These were quite excellent birria tacos!!

This comes with a grain of salt, they were slammed, they had a bunch of to go orders, a POS system was down and it looked liked maybe they could've used another FOH person.

Aside that, I got the birria taco dorados con queso res. I think that's what it said on my ticket. I just asked for the birria taco with consume and she gave me that. I also ordered a buce taco to test out that meat and to drink it all down a nice jamaica.

There was a special going on (5 chicken birria tacos, consume and a pop for 15) so he tried asking for that but he got the same thing as me and had to pay for the drink. So we were both confused as to how ordering was really happening.

When some of the food came it was just the taco dish without consume. So I had one to taste by itself and it was already just slightly above room temp. Eventually the same birria came along with my buche. Still no consume. Or drinks. We had to go up and flag down the runner asking for the drinks and consume. I felt bad doing this because this dude was getting pulled in five different directions at once.

Once we had the consume we tried it with the tacos. Meat was good, and that might be it for them. Consume was lacking a flavor punch that it needed. Salt and fat were missing from this. The red and green sauce (both actually good) I dumped it into the consume to give it some body at least. Buche was satisfactory, didn't have that nice sear/crunchy bite I like though.

At first sip I thought the jamaica was not sugary/limey enough but for the heavy cheese, meat, consume, it did well in contrast. Any more sugar, lime might've ruined it and made the...
