I'm mainly writing this review to respond to JJ Brennan's review.
JJ Brennan showed up to the venue on their birthday. They were upset before the show because they didn't leave anything at their table in the front row so it was taken and they had to sit in the 2nd row. This was the first thing they were upset about.
During the host's set they were given a shout out for their birthday, a common thing done at shows if we know there's people celebrating anything.
During my set JJ Brennen interrupted my jokes, causing me to improvise punchline's to keep the show on track (really funny ones). I light-heartedly said "I feel like this is a conversation we could have after the show", hoping to sort of hint that it wasn't the appropriate time. Didn't really work as I heard her try to shout a couple other things during my set but I pushed through and didn't acknowledge them.
Then at the end of my set I decided to do the rest of the comics a favor and simply asked the audience to remember to be quiet during the show for the other comics.
The host came back up, and jokingly said "raise your hand if you were heckling!" like a disappointed parent. Birthday Girl yells "I wasn't heckling I was talking!" or something like that and the host goes '"Lady, you were textbook heckling". Meanwhile this is all pretty light hearted and the room is laughing.
About a minute or so later during the next comics set I saw her storm out of the showroom to leave and stomp up the stairs while her friend followed behind (looking embarrassed). I asked the booth person if she got kicked out to which I was told "nope, she just decided to leave I guess".
The show went on great and everyone had an amazing time. I was glad she decided to leave, and if she had continued to interrupt the show she eventually would have been kicked out because this club is great at making sure the audience understands their role at the show and getting funny and great...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to try this place out for the first time yesterday. Our major complaint is that their "reservation" system for the comedy club is a complete fail. The website advises you that you can save money by just leaving them a voicemail that you are coming, and that you would receive a confirmation phone call 90 minutes before the show. Of course, in hindsight, the flaw in this "system" is obvious: what if they are sold out? Depending on where you are coming from, you will already be on your way. Anyway, we never received a phone call, but we ate dinner and had some beers in the bar upstairs. The only reason I am giving this review 2 stars instead of 1 is that the bartender provided good service, and the salad we had with our pizza was good. (The pizza itself was mediocre at best). Needless to say, by the time we had finished our dinner and went downstairs to the comedy club, the ticket-takers at the door had never heard of us, and the show was sold out. They informed us that we could wait around for 20 minutes to see if all of the other attendees showed up, so we did. Then the ticket-taker told us we needed to wait another 10 minutes before he could let us in, just to be sure that no one else was going to show up. At that point we gave up and left. Adding to our annoyance, we forgot to have our parking validated. So basically we drove downtown in order to pay to park and eat not-great pizza. Was the comedy funny? Who knows? We won't be back to find out. But if you do go here, be sure to pay whatever the extra cost is to purchase the tickets online, rather than trusting that their phone reservation...
Read moreIt's a very small space. At first I thought it would be a little cramped, but it turned out to be a great venue for comedy. It was a little warm, but not too bad (and it was really hot outside when I went). The main bar upstairs is spacious and cool with big windows looking out onto the "public square" area.
There's no such thing as a bad seat in the comedy club area: If you're in the back, you're about 30 feet from the stage, and the small audience size gives you the feeling that you're out with friends. You actually get to know your fellow audience members as they interact with the comedians. It's really fun!
The service was fantastic. You're never left with an empty glass, the staff is super friendly, and they have a nice on-tap selection.
It's also a nice location. Really easy to get to from the freeway and with several restaurants, pubs, and a brewery nearby (like within 100 feet).
Highly...
