Grand opening was this past weekend but I still wanted to grab it for lunch one day. Fully expecting them to be busy and working out the kinks.
Owned by a local with ties to another fast casual restaurant nearby, I should have known they'd be on the ball. Went in about 10 minutes after open and was greeted by half a dozen or so people sitting around the dining room waiting on orders. The line was backed up from the register to the door and had close to 10-12 people in it, including myself.
There was a busy kitchen staff prepping and cooking with a single cashier taking orders. They were all very busy but pleasant and quickly moving food. Menu board above the register is bright and easy to read, menu options are laid out clearly and detailed. Once it was my turn at the register, it's easy to order your food by number on the menu or name and the staff is familiar with the options.
You're given a receipt with number on it and step aside to wait for carryout or find a table if dining in. The cashier is calling numbers and you go to the counter and grab your bag.
I ordered the number 2 combo which is the spicy sandwich, fries and a drink. The pop machine is self serve and has your standard 6 or so choices. Once my number was called, I retrieved my bag and left. I live nearby so wasn't worried about the food getting cold or suffering in quality on my drive home. I'd prefer to try a new place and dine in but I also didn't want to add to the crowd.
Upon arriving home I opened the bag and carryout container. The food smelled fantastic. I had also gotten an extra cup of their signature "roosty sauce" on the side and it was in the bag. The sandwich had a nice brioche bun, the chicken portion was a good size and looked very appetizing. It had Cole slaw on it, their signature sauce and a few pickles. The slaw was a little messy but good on the sandwich the chicken itself was well cooked, juicy, flavorful and crispy. It had a nice hot seasoning on it but nothing that would make you uncomfortable or unable to finish it. I prefer hotter but understand not everyone does. This is an acceptable, everyday, general hot chicken sandwich for the masses. The signature sauce is VERY VERY similar to the sauce at another chicken restaurant that serves tenders and sandwiches. Almost like a copycat recipe but not quite exactly the same.
As mentioned above, the fries were plentiful but aren't a style of fry that I'mi personally a fan of. It's a pre-seasoned product that's cooked then served. Nothing stood out about them and they didn't really add or take anything away from the meal, personally. Next time I think I'd like to try the macaroni and cheese instead of fries.
Easily the best chicken sandwich around and should be a fixture in the community for quite a while.
4 stars overall just because I'm personally not a huge fan of the fries but everything was cooked properly, presented well and tastes good. Glad to have...
Read moreI came for what looked like amazing wings but left disappointed I got wings and the #2 spicy sandwich The sandwich was great. Good heat and solid chicken with crispy skin. They put the coleslaw right in the sandwich too, which I like.
The wings were very gummy. I like crispy skin on my wings. I asked for them to be well done. I even ran them through an air fryer. Skin was too gummy to eat. No crisp. Wings are too big to get crispy I guess. These are jumbo wings, which is nice for meat, but the meat has no real flavor.
I got buffalo and Parmesan wings. The Parmesan sauce was abundant. My buffalo wings had very little to no sauce on them. I had to throw more sauce on them at home. I was also told 15 min for my order but it was more like 25 to 30 minutes.
I appreciate food cooked to order but I'd rather be told longer times than be told shorter and have to wait.
This place is great for sandwiches and 70 cent wings on Wednesday but don't go if you like crispy wings. I can think of 2 local places that serve up nice big crispy wings with tons of sauce and flavor. I'll most likely return to those places but Roosty's will only be an option for a...
Read moreFinally got to pop in and taste this cute little local restaurant's food for myself! I had the signature sandwich and hubby had the hot chicken sandwich. He said it had the right amount of heat (I didn't taste it because I am a wimp). He really liked his and I really liked mine, the sauce is superb (a little more salt would have made the chicken perfect IMO)! Took a bit to get our food, but it was worth the little wait time. The fries were exceptionally delish and honestly was even more of a highlight than the sandwich. Of course, I am a fry girl and it is ALWAYS about the fries with me.
The restaurant itself is cute and mostly clean. There was an employee sanitizing tables and they had ketchup packets and not the dreaded "on the table bottles" that have been fondled by all of humanity. I did not like the paper towels on the tables, should be napkin holders because the food is messy and the tops of the paper towels are all sloppy finger printed up, which is kind of gross but definitely not a deal breaker!
Employees were all really nice too, so that was a bonus.
So glad we have this option now...
