My husband & I recommend sticking with the regular menu & not trying any of the "Specials" at this restaurant. We went here for dinner to celebrate his birthday, & we felt ignored almost the entire time. No host or hostesses were present when we entered the restaurant. A waiter finally acknowledged us & seated us in a booth, but we did not receive a menu or complimentary water. A waiter & waitress bustled around our booth taking other people's orders & delivering food, but no one approached uur table for almost 10 minutes. We were on the verge of leaving, but stayed because my husband had a card for a free complimentary birthday dinner. A waitress gave us menus, took our drink order, delivered our drinks & took our food order in a reasonable amount of time, but then there was a significant amount of time before we received our food or were acknowledged again. When we received our order, my husband's food (a wet burrito special) was cold, & he said it tasted terrible (he was hoping for something like Hacienda). We did not bother to tell anyone because no one checked back with us to see if everything was ok with our order, if we needed drink refills, etc... When we finished our meal, a different waiter came over & apologized when he delivered the check. He decided to give me my meal for free, as well as honored my husband's gift certificate, so we ended only needing to pay for our drinks. We thanked the waiter for his apology & generosity, but we agreed it is not very likely we will return to the Blue Lantern...
Read moreAppetizers were decent. The stuffed peppers were just peppers boil and topped with cheese and sausage. I can't speak for the main course, because we left before it came out (ordered the special). We waited for about 90 minutes after our appetizers came. I thought we might just be overreacting, but three tables behind us came and went, and a couple sitting next to us at the bar received their food (also ordered the special). We were told our food was already on the plate as we were paying for everything else.
The cheese and "crackers" that you might have read about in other reviews is burnt and rubbery toast that seemed to be made that morning. It came with a salad that was lettuce and onions with a slice of tomato. Dressing was okay, but also not housemade.
The food we did have indicated that nothing there was worth that wait.
Lots of what seemed to be regulars came in through the bar and spoke to a man and woman sitting at the bar cutting limes (owners?). Didn't seem like a terrible environment if you're a regular, I suppose.
Waitstaff included the bartender, who was busting it out. She did a fantastic job keeping all of the customers kept up, but seemed a little...
Read moreI’ve heard so many good things about this place so I took my family for the first time and I was so disappointed. We got seated right away and our drinks in hand but other than that it was all bad. After receiving our drinks, our waitress did not come back to our table for over 25 minutes. Then while placing our order, she was very rude and short to my family and I. we asked for refills and she said that she is too busy and we should just be sipping on our drinks. She had a few other tables, but was laughing and talking with them and holding up the wall. I believe her name to be Rebecca. It was the worst I’ve ever had out of any restaurants I’ve ever been to. I have managed three restaurants and have never had an employee treat. Any customer the way she did. my child asked for ketchup and she told her she needed to be patient and when she brought the ketchup, she slammed it on the table. She was rude, the full-time, except when it was time to get her tip then she was all smiles and happy to help. I will never dine here again and I will be letting everybody know the terrible service Rebecca gave to us. Also, the hostess needs to spend less time on her phone. More time...
