Royal Cafe — Restaurant in Mishawaka

Just tried The Royal Café for the first time. Living nearby, I heard the place opened with new owners and there was a little bit of local buzz. I walked in and it was a welcoming atmosphere. Clean interiors, nice setup, friendly staff. The thing you hope for with a small, local diner.

I ordered the basic cheeseburger as a safe option, being my first time here. Although I do believe it was a pre-made patty, it tasted decent. Personally, would have liked a little more of a seer. Bread was perfectly toasted and the fries were cooked well—fluffy on the inside with a little crunch on the outside. However, as someone who doesn't like soup, the Ham & Bean soup that accompanied the burger was fantastic!

Basic Cheeseburger: 6.5/10 Fries: 7/10 Ham & Bean Soup: 8.5/10

The menu has quite the variety, so I'm excited to explore some of the other options. I may give the Royal Burger a try, hoping it's not (what I believe is) a pre-made patty.

The Royal Cafe on the corner of Sixth & Wells in OLD Mishawaka is a quiet cozy family owned restaurant in the heart of the neighborhood it is surrounded by. The NEW owners took over operations the end of 2022 & are providing quality food for a fair price.

I chose the meat lovers omelette with American fries & toast. You better be hungry when you order this breakfast because it was large & full of a lot of meats & cheese.

The nice lady (Rabi?) that waited on me is the wife of Pedro & Pedro her father-in-law are the Chefs & Owners. My water glass never got low too!👍

The menu is extensive in both American & Mexican food options with daily specials & prices that are easy on the budget. They don’t offer a SENIOR menu option but if you mention your SENIOR citizen status they will gladly provide a discount to keep you budget conscious clients coming back.

I love a good "have a seat anywhere" local restaurant. We heard great thing and had to try out the new Royal Cafe. We got various different dishes, some breakfast and some lunch. Our waitress was wonderful and took great care of us, anticipated our needs before we knew them. The chocolate chip pancakes were full of chocolate!! And they had a real syrup dispenser. Two others got biscuits and gravy and said it was perfect, the eggs were bland though and undercooked. But the omelette was very, very good. The corned beef hash was good, much like anywhere else. The turkey but was great, but huge. The burger patty was definitely frozen but it was good, all around a good burger.
