I like sandwiches on hot days. Something cool and fresh. Actually, I love a good sandwich almost any day. Subway is one of my go to places. This one is on Marguerite Pkwy. in the plaza next to the fire station. If you are northbound on the Pkwy turn right at the light at the fire station, go up the road and make the first right. You can't miss the Subway. I mention this because some have found this one a bit tricky to find.
Subway has changed the menu a bit, and they have a new offering called Pro. Apparently the word "meat" is offensive to some people so menu says "extra protein." It means double meat. I don't judge, I'm just letting you know. I decided to give the Pro a try, and was not disappointed. I believe what I had was the All American sub. Maybe. Look for it, it was really good. It's also kinda pricey because of the double meat, about $15. Yep. For a sandwich. Expect these kinds of prices with many places paying $15 an hour for jobs that were $8 or $9 pre- pandemic. Hey, I would have taken a raise too back in my Jack days when I was making $1.75 and hour.
A pleasant surprise on my sandwich was bacon, and what I felt was a fair amount. Bacon is a treat for me, my wife doesn't let me have much. Did I think that or say it out loud ...? Yes, I actually listen to my wife. My wife is 5'5" and I'm 6'2". She's sweet as sugar, never yells. Yet somehow I always seem to end up not eating bacon and such. Go figure. You can have the bacon heated separately from your sandwich, and unless you like cold bacon (very medieval) I suggest you do. It's precooked so I'm not worried about you know, stuff, I just like warm bacon.
I had mine meat and American cheese on Italian bread, you choose what you like. Then my nice warm bacon. Subway is very cool about toppings, so if you want more of something just ask them. Now came olives. Lots of olives. Onions, some pepperocinis, then tomatoes. Now for the tricky bit. A flavored sauce, and they have some interesting choices, or lots af lettuce and my standard double shot of oil and vinegar? Tradition won and oil and vinegar it was. I was looking with affection at a very nice looking sandwich. The other person wanted the roast chicken sandwich, and I'm going to have that one day soon. It's roasted and looks pulled, it looks great and tastes good too. I know because I got a bite. No, I didn't steal it. I was offered a bite and didn't even hesitate. There are a couple of sweet/tangy sauces I think would be really good with the chicken. The roast chicken is kinda new, so be sure you don't wind up with the chicken patty looking roast chicken. You want the pulled chicken looking one.
It was about $27 for two large sandwiches, but you might get two meals out of a large. Sometimes I do, sometimes not. Mom got two out hers, so cool cool. Oh! Subway has pastrami available right now, which kind of comes and goes. I don't know how long it will be available. Perhaps Subway want to compete with Jersey Mike a bit more, another favorite. Mike's doesn't have the produce selection Subway does, but they makea great sandwich. It's a good shop to get a Philly cheesesteak at too. Number 17.
As I said, I love a good sandwich. If you're in LA look down the alley at 6th and Hill. You'll have to walk to the hidden deli at the end. Go in and get the amazing sandwich of your choice on bread that will be the standard you judge other sandwich rolls by. Take a loaf home and use it immediately. Yeah, it's that kind of crusty bread. Tell them Morg sent you. You'll...

Tired of all the sandwich places being $16 for a large!!! I can get two from subway and with buy one get one free, both for $10!!! Best are Jersey Mike's, Togo's, which which, fireman subs. Read moreInconsistent quality of same menu item from one day to the next. Perfectly done veggie sandwich first time I ordered but a sloppy mushy mess on my next order of same item a few days later. Worse part is all the back and forth arguments by both the worker as well as his supervisor both holding the customer responsible for the terrible sandwich!!! Definitely not going back despite their convenient location and offer of a free sandwich. Thought of Subway sandwich is now a...
