Iâve been here multiple times and always had good experiences until today. If today had been my first experience I would never return, not sure at this point. I order coffee and a piece of quiche. I stood at the counter for a full 10 minutes while the young man helping me was âheating my quicheâ while actually chatting up a coworker. After 10 minutes I asked if it was okay to go sit outside while I waited. After another more than five minutes he came out with my very cold quiche. I asked him to heat it, he agreed and returned with it looking extremely rough, clearly something happened to it. When I objected he insisted I try it and said if I didnât like it the way it is that he would get a new piece for me and âheat it in the good toaster oven.â What? Why didnât I get it heated the better way from the beginning? $5.75 for a very small piece of quiche that I waited almost half an hour to not eat. Would have given one star if I hadnât been here so many times in the past. Maybe itâs...
Read moreUrban Prairie has been my neighborhood coffee shop for quite some time and has continued to be the 'go-to' mostly because of the excellent environment and pleasantness of the entire staff. Once every few months a friend and I get together here to catch up over a drink and pastry from the case.
Usually go with a standard latte or one of their rotating specialty drinks that come-and-go from month to month. This day in age coffee is incredibly subjective but virtually any place is willing to craft a drink to your liking. UPC is one of those places. Hands down on of my favorite spots to grab a drink to go, or relax with friends or the spouse.
PS - also a great place to enjoy the outside seating with your dog (or dog watch if you don't...
Read moreThis fall I decided to kick off a new adventure Iâm calling Camaro & Coffeeâa tour of unique Kansas City coffee shops with my 1968 Camaro as the trusty sidekick. This morningâs stop was Urban Prairie Coffee, and right at 7:00 AM the place was buzzing with energy as people lined up for specialty drinks and an impressive spread of pastriesâincluding their own spin on Pop-Tarts. I stuck with my go-to dark roast (with a splash of half & half) and wasnât disappointed. One of the best surprises? Urban Prairie is connected to a board game shop, which instantly earned it a spot on my âreturn visitâ listânext time Iâll be bringing the family to dive into both the coffee and the games. All in all, itâs a unique and cozy spot that blends great coffee, fun treats, and a welcoming vibeâexactly the kind of place this Camaro & Coffee journey...
