I came into Café Rio shortly after 10pm. The wait was about 10 minutes, with only one customer in front of me. When the young lady came to assist me it became apparent she was new, and working the front alone, as she was calling out to others for help while preparing my food. The young gal, who was genuinely fanatic and trying very hard, forgot to put beans on my nachos. After pulling them from the conveyor oven she began topping my nachos then, IN FRONT OF ME, another employee said "Hey, those are supposed to go through the oven twice. But, it's okay." Now, as the customer standing right in front of them, I am pissed. I now just want my food so I can leave. I paid the cashier and then had to reach across the counter to get my food, because she forgot to hand it to me. I then grab a piece of the chicken and realize it is extremely cold, that half of the cheese is not melted, and that the guac is old. I politely asked the gal at the register to fix my food, at which point another lady came up and told me that they could heat it again but all of the toppings would be gross. She only offered to remake my food after I demanded that I get my money back.
In short, the young lady who was making my food was brand new and alone. This is not acceptable in any restaurant. The management staff were non existent, and the seasoned staff were very rude.
I feel bad for the girl that was being trained this poorly, as they are setting her up to fail. I'm upset that they did not offer to remake my food when it clearly needed to be.
Poor management, poor training, poor customer service, and their food is mediocre, albeit they are open late. I will not be returning to this...
Read moreBrought my teen here for lunch today. She ordered a steak burrito and got the last of their cooked and ready steak, so the polite staff asked if we mind waiting the 8 minutes for them to cook more because I wanted steak too and we said sure, paid for everything ordered and sat to wait. I got a drink from their fountain options, and noticed a guy next to me getting ice and pouring it out. I asked him what was wrong and he said there was black stuff in the ice every time he pushed his cup to get some. I said "lol gross" but looked in my own cup to find black specks as well. They had me cut a long line of people to add stuff to my steak bowl when it was ready, they should probably have a better system for that situation. When I got my food, the steak had a sauce on it which made it taste weird and not what I ordered, in my steak there were several very rare cooked steak pieces, like blue raw.. I cant eat it so I hesitantly brought my food up to the counter and found they were so busy ( a full crew) but there was no one to assist me but after a few minutes someone listened and got the main cook to come help me. He asked about what was wrong and took my order to remake it for me. That's nice and all but he was dismissive and insisted the sauce taste is normal, and said they cook the steak "medium" on purpose. He also took my tray of complained about food and almost angrily threw it away. Not that I was trying to keep it, I was more taken aback that he had seemed irritated. Anyway they remade my order and we got it and left. Makes me wanna just order from...
Read moreDelivery customers beware ! I am an independent contractor that delivers for all of the major companies including GrubHub Postmates and doordash. None of those companies require in fact in your contract they actually say you shouldn't ever assist in preparing any of the food or beverages and not even have to go to the condiment section as all things should already be placed in bags sealed and ready for your pickup. This is one of the only restaurants when a driver walks in and identifies who they're with and what order they are picking up if it includes a fountain beverage all they have is the empty cup with a lid stuffed in it sitting on a table for the driver to pick up themselves and fill up at the fountain station. Nowhere in the drivers normal course of business are we becoming food handlers and we're not required to maintain the proper Sanitation in order to do so safely. This is actually against Board of Health as nobody should be filling up anybody's drink or potentially touching the inside of a cup or lid but restaurant Personnel or the actual person drinking the beverage. I mentioned all of this professionally and calmly to the young lady who said she was the manager and I was met with fairly aggressive behavior numerously yelling at me telling me it's in our contract and that's your job. So in a nutshell I would imagine some drivers are very clean and courteous and would do their best but I'm certainly not confident enough to have anybody who's driving around the car all day stick their fingers in my cup and drink it when it's not even their...
