Cruz Tacos — Restaurant in Missoula

Why limit us to five stars when there are places like Cruz Tacos that deserve…10? Don’t just drive by this little oasis of taco heaven. I’ve been wanting to stop in and at long last I have and now I’m hooked. You’d have to book a flight to Mexico to find better examples of a true street taco. I’ll keep going on and on about how good the food is here but don’t waste your time reading anymore. Go here now! I ordered asada and lengua tacos and I only wish I’d ordered more. Expertly cooked meats that melt in your mouth along with the best salsa, ever. A squeeze of lime, a bite of what must be home pickled jalapeno and I was transported to nirvana. Mathew and his mother run this amazing spot and you won’t find nicer people or better food anywhere. I’m going back later for their taquitos and maybe a burrito too. My diet can start tomorrow. Cruz Tacos has gone "brick & mortar"! And it was Street Tacos FTW!!! I got three different ones - carnitas, ranchera, and the brisket. All three were amazing, but their brisket was the winner! Also a BIG winner, the chips and salsa!!! Chips were warm, crunchy, and freshly made. The salsa, though a good-sized portion, was so delicious it only made it thru half of my chips. Tacos were topped with onion and cilantro; so if you are part of the (weird) 10% of the population that think it tastes like soap - you may want to order your food without. :) From listening in on a conversation with another customer, it sounds the will have a rotating daily menu; tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and a "chef's choice". We arrived right in the middle of a lunch rush. There was a little bit of a wait but nothing crazy. The food was delicious!! Everything was flavorful! But the cherry on top was the simple but genuine kindness and care of the staff. The gentleman who took our order called us family and referred to me as mom- the way he did it truly made us feel welcome and appreciated. And as I walked back toward the window to throw away my trash the same employee was outside enjoying a smoke break and took the moment to ask how my meal was and thanked me for being part of their day! Wow!
