Hunter Bay - Toole Ave. Cafe — Restaurant in Missoula

Never ordering from here again. I placed an online lunch order for a sandwich at 11:45. Got a confirmation via email to pick it up at 12:15. I walked all the way down there from my office and arrived at 12:15 exactly. I walked in and some female employee says, “sorry we’re closed. We’re closing early today”. And I say, “uh, no. I placed an online order a half hour ago to be picked up right now”. Another girl at the cash register says, “oh yeah I just refunded your order a couple minutes ago”. Then I say, “you guys never emailed me that it was gonna be canceled. I walked all the way down here and now I don’t have enough time on my lunch break to walk somewhere else to get food”. Employee: “Yeah I don’t know what to tell you. Sorry”. Like wouldn’t it make more sense to just make a sandwich real fast rather than upset and lose one of your customers??? Gen...

First time here. I came for lunch and if I were to provide grades for the various element it would go like this:

Drinks A- the Chai tea with vanilla foam was perfect. Not too sweet with yummy foam.

Food B- the praying monk was just ok. I was hoping for more flavor and it was over toasted so the bread was dry with crusts that were too hard to eat.

Service C minus- this was disappointing. The place was not at all busy, but the attitude of the servers was lackluster. No smile, no offer to get a copy of my receipt. My table was three feet from the service area and yet I almost didn’t realize when my drink and then food were ready as they were just placed on the counter and someone sort of mumbled what the item was. Interesting that the women behind the counter seemed much friendlier when young men were the customers.

My husband and our daughter visited for the first time today. The building is very cute and it would be a great place to study or work, especially that little table tucked back in the corner with an outlet right there and no one else around you, plus lots of natural light. There are two gender neutral single person bathrooms. We got a latte and a breve and both were ready surprisingly fast and tasted good. The people working at the front were very kind and helpful.
