I visited this restaurant at about 3:30 pm on Saturday, September 12th, 2020. The experience was an unqualified disappointment. I ordered the regular-size Steak Stroganoff, which turned out to be a bowl full of egg noodles topped with a laughably small portion of sauce and what appeared to be approximately 2 ounces of sliced skirt steak or some other equally low-quality cut of meat. No attempt had been made to mix the sauce and noodles as it ought to have been, and as had been done on a previous visit. I stirred the sauce and meat in as best I could and then ate three or four bites before approaching the counter to request additional sauce, mentioning that my dish was too dry. I waited at the register for a minute until I noticed an employee standing at a second register staring at me. There was no " "May I help you?" ' or any similar greeting; in fact, she didn't speak at all. I walked over and requested some extra sauce, mentioning that my meal was too dry. There was no acknowledgement of my complaint, just "Sure. One dollar," followed by "We'll have that right out." I returned to my table and sat, waiting to resume my meal until the sauce was brought about 5 minutes later. I received a plastic bowl with what appeared to be about 1-2 ounces of sauce in it, and after mixing it in, my meal was finally edible, if noticeably cooler from the waiting. While I was waiting I looked around the restaurant and noticed that it was rather dirty in spite of having only one other occupied table. There were bits of food visible on the floor and I observed several dirty tables, even though they had been vacant since before my arrival and the restaurant was not even a little busy. I don't recall seeing any other patrons come in during my visit, yet the staff couldn't be bothered to do any tidying up. It caused me to become increasingly uncomfortable and to wonder what sort of care was taken in keeping the kitchen clean, with the dining room in that state. Eventually I finished my meal and left. With the total price tag for my meal at $14.50 +/-, I definitely felt the value for money was sorely lacking. For that price I could have had a much better meal at a truck stop, or even a fast food restaurant. The skeptic in me wonders if that is part of the reason one is expected to pay for one's meal before receiving it. Additionally, when I paid for my meal, the credit/debit card point-of-sale terminal at one point displayed a screen with suggested tip amounts, which I felt was tacky and presumptuous, especially since the "service" turned out to be on par with that of McDonald's. I will not be visiting this...
Read moreMath is hard. My family likes Noodles and company. The food is good, and there are low carb options. Most of the time, the service is good as well. Tonight, however, was like a failed math lesson. I ordered for my family, to the tune of 30.90. I gave the cashier (blond, ponytail, a little tall) $40, and after she hit the cash out button (literally seconds) it dawned on me if I gave her another dollar, I could get a ten back, saving extra singles in my purse and leaving extras for the drawer. She took the dollar, and after a moment, gave me 7.10 back. I informed her she did not give the correct change, and asked if she had a ten in the drawer. She said she did not, apologized for the error, and gave me an additional 2 dollars. (That's 9.10). I told her, that's fine if she didn't have a ten, but that she should give me my original dollar back then. It was obvious she had no idea what I was talking about. I explained again that if my change was supposed to be 9.10, that with the dollar i had given her, my change should be 10.10. She insisted she'd given me the correct change (still a dollar short). I tried again, and could tell she was losing it, at which time she called someone else to 'help'. He was polite and asked what the problem was. I explained it to him, at which point she told him that I was 'tripping'. He seemed to understand basic math, took the $9 that was sitting on the counter and gave me the ten. I'm pretty sure I was the talk on the night, and I"m still not sure if she was trying to take my dollar, or if she really just didn't get it. Either way, it doesn't reflect well...
Read moreI had never eaten at this restaurant (brooks street on June 28 @3:30) and thought I would check it out. When I walked in the door the left wall had posters that showed menu items. The Pesto Cavatappi looked good and was advertised as having: Curly pasta, basil pesto, garlic, mushrooms, tomato, wine, cream, parmesan and Italian parsley, for 7 dollars. I went up to the front counter and ordered a small, making sure to ask if it had meat (I'm vegetarian). The lady said no unless I wanted it and I said no meat. I also ordered an Izzy drink and the order came to 19 dollars which didn't make sense. When I got the dish it had chicken. The gal who took my order was gone so the cook came to the counter. I pointed at the poster in front of the door and said that's what I ordered, it doesn't say anything about meat. His response was, "well that's odd. I don't know why that's there. It always comes with meat". At that point I handed it back to him, and left, 19 dollars poorer and still hungry. I never got a receipt, so I still don't understand what cost 19 dollars since the dish was posted for 7 dollars. I can't imagine the Izzy drink cost 12 dollars. If you are going to have a giant poster advertising a dish, the dish you receive should be the same that you advertised. I will never be back, and I will pass the word on to my friends. As far as I'm concerned, this restaurant stole 19...
