We won't be back.
First, the good: The place was clean, and the waitstaff was attentive and friendly. I never got the water I asked for, but that's minor and I shared.
We came in at 2:40 on Sunday. The place was mostly empty. We were a party of 6. Our food took a really long time (~45 minutes? I didn't time it). Our waitress said it was waiting on my sandwich (so, it had been under the heat lamps for how long already?). I asked her to just bring their food out.
My wife's pizza was wrong (it had mushrooms, and she hates mushrooms). They offered to remake it (... and ... wait another 40 minutes?). We had guests, and didn't want to wait. So she ate a little after picking off the mushrooms. (We took the rest home, and ended up just throwing it out).
Around ~20 (!!) minutes later, after everyone was done and looking for boxes, they came out with my sandwich. I had just been walking around the restaurant trying to find our waitperson to tell her to forget the sandwich and pay the bill.
Mostly empty restaurant, slow food, multiple problems. I don't get it.
To the owner/manager: any decent kitchen manager will keep an eye on ticket times, and prevent these issues. My sandwich was obviously not even started until the other food was done. (I make identical sandwich at home in less time then that.) IF problems like this happen, the manager should come out and explain and apologize. Not force the waitperson to do it. That's what happened when we had an issue at 'Texas Roadhouse' in Bozeman, and they fixed it in under 5 minutes -- we will definitely be back there.
I don't want a credit or discount or anything else. I do these reviews to warn people away from the bad and toward the good. (BTW, if you like Gyros, 'Ambrosia' is amazing, and so fast you can literally hold your breath for the food.)
They discounted my wife's pizza, and took off my sandwich. Over $120 and a big chunk of our day for my wife and I to leave hungry. Our guests seemed...
ย ย ย Read moreMy daughter's and I ate at Old Chicago today. The start of the experience went well, the hostess was friendly and took us to our table promptly. The rest of the experience was a nightmare - BUYER BEWARE. I highly urge you to spend your money elsewhere - a full description of my experience is below.
From there, we had to wait about 10 minutes to be greeted by our server. We ordered drinks, 1 coke, 1 sweet tea, a water and a draft beer.
The coke, water and sweet tea arrived delivered by our server Otto. He took our order at the same time he brought our drinks.
Time passes, and I had nearly forgotten I had ordered a beer, when another server delivers it, again not in and of itself a big deal.
Our food arrives, and both of my daughters' meals are correct. I ordered a pizza, and received a salad. The kitchen manager goes to find the ticket, and shows me that the server rang the food in incorrectly. Then kitchen manager apologized, and said he'd get my pizza right out.
A few minutes later, as my kids had nearly finished their meals, our server Otto comes over and asks if we needed refills on our drinks. Not a word of apology for the food issues.
He leaves with their drink glasses, so now they have no drinks and doesn't return until bringing 2 other tables their drinks, and running food for a third table.
Finally, my food arrives, I eat quickly because we are now behind our timeline and I request the check.
Not only does the check have my pizza, it also still has the improperly ordered Salad!!!!!!! At this point even the manager gets snippy when I ask for the check to be corrected.
I will never EVER recommend this place to anyone. It was a horrible experience from...
ย ย ย Read moreI understand they just opened.. I truly do.. but it was a train wreck experience. Having never been to an Old Chicago, we were really excited to try it. We arrived at 5:10pm, happy hour lasting until 6. It was 10 minutes before our waitress even made it to our table (and it was the last time during our experience that we saw her until she dropped off our checks...) We were waiting on 2 more guests but we ordered a round of drinks from the bar, Shirley temples for the kids, and 2 apps. The Mac n cheese bites were delivered (which truly were good) but we didnโt get our drinks for another 10 minutes after that, the kids Shirley temples never came, and the second app was missing. In the meantime, our other guests had arrived, and wanted to order bevs.. Finally at 5:50, we flagged down a passing server and asked if we could order. This server was actually very friendly, apologized for the poor service, and took our drink and food order. We mentioned the missing app, and were told he would check on it. A few minutes later, one burger was delivered... but nothing else, and we had to ask a passing server for silverware. When she bit into the burger (ordered medium well) it was so raw she couldnโt eat it.. and We finally flagged down a gentleman who appeared to be manager. He apologized and offered to get a new burger going. We mentioned the missing app, and he said he would comp it and make sure we received it.. it did come, after our food.. and our drink order finally made it to the table at 6:24. One member of our party had to leave before her drink made it to the table.. I truly hope that things smooth out once they get up and running, but we wonโt be back...
