UPDATE: since my original post over 2 years ago, the store has improved. I have updated my review from two stars to four stars. Lighting is much better. They've improved the front area as you walk in the store. Even the floors look cleaner now. The store still suffers from being small, and aesthetically uninspiring due to its small size,. But it is a solid shopping experience now and I have no issue shopping here anymore.
Old review: Upon recently moving to Texas (Sugar Land), I could not understand the HEB obsession after shopping at this Missouri City location. I thought if Texans love shopping like this, they must have very low standards. When you walk in the front door what greets you are sad produce displays. A hideous floor that needs refinishing. The store is small with tight aisles. Dim lighting that makes the place look drab and uninviting. My friend who lives in Pearland thought I was complaining just to complain until he saw it. He was like "I'm sorry I didn't believe you. I understand now why you don't like it. Other HEBs are MUCH nicer." Validation!
Unfortunately for me, Missouri City HEB is my closest grocery store. It's too convenient not to do my quick, grab-and-go shopping here. But for my main weekly shopping, I drive right by this one and keep going down to the Sienna location for an aesthetically pleasing shopping experience. Large, bright and inviting, nice floors. Fresh looking produce. Once I walked into that one, only then did I understand the love affair Texans have with HEB. First time I went there, I spent over two hours and $350. I lost track of time wandering around the store marveling at how nice everything looked. I never spent that much money or time in the Missouri City store; I can't stand being in there long enough to put that much in my cart.
The Missouri City location seems to be a outlier because other locations are very nice. Not sure why they left the Missouri City store to rot. It is old and tired. Desperately needs updating. It is not befitting the quality of the surrounding neighborhoods. But thumbs up to the employees who are always nice and helpful. And the sushi...
Read moreCurbside is slow and they would rather you jeopardize the safety of yourself and your vehicle by having you line up in the middle of the driveway rather than park in one of the many spots they cone off. Want to get chastised for putting safety first? Move a cone and park in one of the unnecessarily coned off spots! Why overbook when you don’t have the manpower? Simple. Greed is more important than safety.
Routinely gets parts of my order wrong (3 examples: 1) I ordered 0.75 lbs of salmon and they gave me 2.5 lbs and of course charged me for the excess, 2) routinely brings me the wrong bakery bread, 3) has left out toddler yogurt and several other things outright from my order).
If you order from the deli, be sure you have extra zip lock bags at home because they’ll print the adhesive label over the zip part of the bag, meaning once you open the bag, good luck sealing it closed again.
Anytime I order curbside, it’s not a matter of IF but rather TO WHAT EXTENT my order will be out of stock. Would be great to know this ahead of time so I can make necessary audibles before needing to make an extra trip to another grocery store later in the week.
Every time I get a community newspaper or catalog talking about new businesses opening or updates to businesses around, I hope and pray I will find the article announcing this location is either being closed or replaced with new management.
H‑E‑B as a brand has my loyalty, as the products and selection are usually of high quality, so despite my complaints, I’m not leaving H‑E‑B. I’m just stuck hopelessly with this location because it’s the...
Read moreI have to leave an even worst review because I've had the worst customer service experience at any grocery store today. I'm a personal trainer that's been a loyal customer for years. I go here every single day, and I've given them plenty of my pay checks. I've developed great rapport with many of it's associates and managers including a worker Diseree. For about a year it's only been small talk with her. "Hello how is it going. How's your fitness goals coming along? Well keep up the good work and best wishes." That's a basic encounter Ive had with her every time. She's asks me for advice for protein supplements, creatine and even seemed interested in some written workout routines and I'm always happy to give free advice. However today, after saying hello, I'm met with a swarm of managers like a freaking SWAT team, surrounding me as if I stole something, telling me shes making claims I make her feel uncomfortable to which I respond there never been remotely any bad energy, no negative vibes, I'm not sure where its coming from. Had she had any issues with me, she only needed to tell me and I would have happily kept my distance but throwing a loyal customer under the bus for just saying "hi" is absolutely bad customer service. I've never been so embarrassed in any business and I'll be damned if I say anything good about this place to the many other customers and...
