I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant, ordering takeout at least twice a week. However, there are a few issues I have noticed recently that are becoming more frustrating.
Firstly, when I pay with a debit or credit card, I am automatically charged a 3% upcharge without being informed in advance. I think it’s important for the cashier to clearly communicate this policy, especially since I usually have cash and can avoid the extra fee. If I don’t ask for the price breakdown, I wouldn’t even know that I’m paying more when using a card.
Secondly, I have noticed that the portion sizes, particularly for the soup, have gotten smaller while the prices have gone up. With the increase in prices, I expect the portions to reflect the cost, but instead, I feel like I’m getting less for more. It feels like price gouging, which is disappointing given how frequently I visit.
Overall, I enjoy the food here, but these issues make the experience less satisfying. I hope these concerns can be addressed to improve the...
Read moreFood is fine. Staff is another issue. Called about 25 minutes prior to close and was greeted with a notice by an individual, I believe an elderly gentleman, who asked my girlfriend and I if we were close by and aware that they were getting ready to close. I responded by telling him that we are a few minutes away. Once we arrive, 10 minutes before close, my girlfriend goes inside to collect the food and he begins inquiring about our activities with the implication that we shouldn't be ordering "late." I go inside and ask the employees directly whether they close at 10 as advertised or if there is some unknown time which was not conveyed. I told them that I just wanted to make sure there was no problem and they assured me there wasn't. Disappointing as we are from out of town for a wedding and my uncle recommended this place. I get that you want to go home but if I call in an order prior to 10 pm and pick it up prior to 10 pm, then I would like to not be given a hard time about giving...
Read moreI have been a regular, satisfied customer of Orient Cafe over 30 years, both dine in and delivery, until Tuesday, 09/05/17. I dined in for lunch with a party of 5. I ordered socki, and was served what Im certain was an extremely cheap wine. It tasted flammable and smelled of fumes from across the table. When I asked the server to remove it from my bill because it wad not socki, she threw a fit and verbally complained across the restaurant to the older female manager who came to the table and stroked out as well. She tried to humiliate me in front of my guest, but they had already complained of the smell from a distance. The lunch fried rice was awful as well. One of my guest could not eat her mongolian beef because she did not know what kind of meat it was. OH OH- I GUESS IT'S TIME FOR THEM TO CLOSE. GOD AWFUL EXPERIENCE, SERVICE, MANAGEMENT, AND FOOD!!! NEVER AGAIN!!! Health department should make sure of what meat they...
