Taco Mama - West Mobile — Restaurant in Mobile

I recently discovered there was a Taco Mama near me. I have been to the Taco Mama on Old Shell a few times. I don’t go there often because it’s not in an area of the city I frequent much. Seeing there is was a location on Airport was good news. I can’t remember what I had the last time I ate here. I just chose at random and my pick was the yo mama. For the side I picked street corn. I ordered online and headed to pick up my food. When I got to the restaurant, there was a person cleaning in the front area where the register was. He quickly asked how he could help. I told him I ordered online. He quickly went to the area where online orders are stored when ready. He could’ve just pointed me to the area and that would’ve been no problem at all. It wasn’t much for him to do but I did appreciate it.

By the way the place seemed packed.

When I got home to enjoy my food I went straight to the street corn. I thought I’d had it before but I don’t remember it being this good. Today 05/22/2024 I went to the Airport location Taco Mama (my very first time at this location) we went inside along with another black female and white family walked in as well. Since we were first me and my grandmother (black) were told they have not opened yet and they will give us a menu and we could wait outside the time was 10:57, the female(black) behind us was told the same and the family of 4 (white) was told the same. We were told to go outside but they allowed the family of 4 to stay inside until they opened. Then at 11:01 they came outside to signal us to come in where the white family who showed up last was already ordering. I gave our menus back and told them we would not be eating at this location. I love Taco Mama I usually go to the one on Old Shell Rd as they treat everyone the same. Due to me already being on airport I thought it be nice to stop at the most convenient location but never again. The Airport location service is not acceptable. 2/4 meals were satisfactory.1taco,1burrito, 2 burritos were very unsatisfactory. Soggy,watery,overstuffed to compensate the price I suppose. It was like a first grader made them. Mine was the worst soupy, fell apart after 3 or 4 bites and couldn’t pick it up after the first bite. My first time there. My. Families second time. Drinks were subpar, watery, little flavor, wife’s frozen margarita was good, very tart, but good. It isn’t often that I do a bad review, but 16.50 for a sloppy burrito isn’t right. It’s really hard to make the decision to pay that kind of money for a burrito when we have 3-4 item plates at actual Mexican restaurants in our area with fantastic frozen margaritas for 12 bucks a plate and the same price for the margaritas.
