Service was friendly and attentive, food was bad.

I have been coming here since the 90s when I visit my family in Modesto. It used to be very good.

Why the change? Incredibly, the irish potato fries had no flavor until I added salt and ketchup, I rarely salt my food, and I doused these in salt and malt vinegar and still the only thing i could taste was the green onion.

The tap list is listed badly for people who know beer. One of the beers said "Dust Bowl IPA" DUST Bowl has 8 IPA's at any given time, which one? I was very specific about the beer I asked for since there are also 5 or six of the one I wanted. When the server could not tell me which one was on tap, I still got something I didn't want.

And the menu!!!! It's been wrong for months, so long that my brother pointed it out and 3 tables around us pointed it out right as they sat down as a point of humor. FIX IT! ITS PAPER, having fish and chips listed at $119 for 2 and having the onion ring description under the mozzarella sticks?!?!? FIX IT! That is just lazy, probably annoys the crap out of the staff having to address it with every table.

First off I used to frequent this place years ago in college and was a huge fan of it. The atmosphere is cozy and the drinks were decently priced. Recently went again and had a very below average experience. Service was quick and we were seated almost instantly. Once seated we ordered a Guinness, two waters and a cocktail. The drinks were decent enough however we only got one straw. Simple mistake, easily corrected.

Then we ordered and received our food. The "Hand breaded" Jalapeño poppers weren't breaded at all and were instead grilled. The filling was decent enough however it spilled filling as soon as you took your first bite and really lacked the crunch of breading. As for entrees we had wings and a burger. The wings were okay decently cooked but not saucy at all. The burger was supposed to be cooked medium, however it was much closer to well done. The fries were super salty and flabby. The biggest atrocity however was the price at the end. For a burger, wings, jalapeno poppers, one cocktail and one beer we paid $70+. We don't mind paying that for quality food but it was below par. We used to love this place even though the service lacks in fast service. I’ve had a problem before but on Monday we definitely didn’t have good service. When we ordered our appetizer & food apparently the waitress never was informed that an appetizer usually comes out before the meal. Then when I ordered my usual Shepherds pie I asked for extra cheese, green onions & sour cream like always. The appetizer came out with all the food & then I’m getting a huge plate like never before. I took a bite & they had a thick layer of potatoes & I couldn’t even taste anything else in it. I sent it back & had them remake it & asked for it to go. Our waitress seemed to be the bartender too for everyone & if that’s the case; then she shouldn’t be waiting tables! She let my spouse’s tea stay dry for quite a while. I know I’ve never seen an older waitress ever there; but if you’re going to hire young women to do a job well done then train them.
