I had a few problems with this Perko's. First, we had to hunt down our server to take our food order because we'd been waiting for over 10 minutes. It wasn't even busy. You should never have to hunt down your server. Next problem I had was with the food. I ordered corned beef hash with over-medium fried eggs, "fresh" fruit and a blueberry muffin. We will go in the order that I tasted them. Blueberry muffin - not enough sugar and oil or egg, WAY too much baking powder. It was immensely bitter and had that wonderful flavor of too much baking powder. YUCK. I couldn't even taste the blueberries over this terrible flavor and it was crumbling too much to get a decent bite considering the lack of bonding material. Very dry. Fresh Fruit - Okay, don't advertise fresh if it isn't. The honeydew and cantaloupe were under-ripe and had been sitting out. Not even cold and had that fermented garbage flavor. yay. Eggs - Cooked very well, enjoyed the textures. But they were COMPLETELY unseasoned. Not the worst thing ever, but very bland. Corned Beef Hash - I love hash. I make really good hash. This was not good. It was all chopped up into tiny bits less than a quarter of an inch, over-cooked, obviously thrown in a microwave and was completely mushy. It had NONE of that hash texture. It was also swimming in oil. I have a sensitive stomach, and this made me incredibly sick later because it was swimming in so much oil. I could've taken a bath in it. In summary, I think Perko's should probably try having trained chefs who know how to cook and what things are supposed to look like. It wasn't busy. It was microwaved. The muffins were ULTRA dry. It was a pathetic excuse for cookery. I don't expect excellence from a Perko's, but I expected better than this. I've had better food at a...
Read moreThis was the second time I went in for dinner and have been truly disappointed. When you order a dinner with a salad you expect to get your salad first so you can enjoy it and eat it and then your dinner plate comes. Twice now that has not happened I did get my salad first, and then the server walk straight up to the line and grabbed my dinner plate so I hadn't even got in my first bite of my salad. AND now my dinner plates sits there getting cold while I eat my salad. I have honestly never gone into a restaurant where you get your salad and your dinner plate at the same time. I won't be going back to this Perkos I may try another one we have three or four in Modesto. I do like Perkos food very good and the cooks know how to cook a rare steak. Only disappointed in the service of this one restaurant on McHenry. She was more interested in talking to the regulars, I guess I'm not regular...
