Sanctuary Sports Bar & Pizzeria — Restaurant in Modesto

I’ve been to Sanctuary Pizza a couple of times before and it’s usually a solid spot for a good pizza so I came in with high expectations again. This time I went for their Hawaiian. Sanctuary’s take had a nicely balanced sweetness from the pineapple, solid cured ham, and a well made crust with a good chew and crisp edge. The dough here is consistently one of their strengths.... you can tell they care about fermentation and handling.

That said, this visit had some hiccups. I had to wait over an hour from the time I arrived... and that was after ordering about an hour earlier. Turns out they ran out of pizza boxes and had to go grab more. To their credit, they comped me some wings and fries while I waited, which was a nice gesture and showed good hospitality. The wings were solid, crispy with decent seasoning, and the fries were fresh.

There’s no indoor seating (at least when I’ve been), so it’s strictly a pickup or outdoor vibe for now, which works, but makes long waits a little tougher.

Overall, I’ll be back.... because when they’re firing on all cylinders, the pizza is worth it. But hoping the logistics get a little...

The food is incredibly fresh and high-quality — you can taste the difference right away. Even though they won’t be officially open for a few weeks, you can already order through DoorDash or pick it up yourself, which I highly recommend.

The pizza alone impressed me so much that I actually slowed down to enjoy every bite (and I usually eat fast). The flavor had real depth — definitely not your typical chain pizza like Domino’s or fast food. This is an experience, not just a meal.

The inside atmosphere is wonderful too, with a genuine, welcoming vibe. They even have a bar that will be serving drinks once they fully open. On top of pizza, they’ll be offering pasta, wings, and much more. If the rest of the menu is anything like the pizza, it’s going to be fantastic.

Sanctuary Pizza is the kind of place that deserves real support. I don’t recommend restaurants lightly, but this is quality food with an experience to match. Give them a try — you...

The pizzas are so awesome, delicious and worth every penny. For us noc shifters, this place is just what we needed as it opens till 12am. This is pizza with a twist and it is not like anything you have tried before. From the base, to the flavor, to the service, everything about this place is awesome. Every staff at work was satisfied with this place and the variety of flavours it offers on pizza and wings. Even the vegetarian pizza is to die for but the BBQ pizza with chicken and pineapple was just so tasteful and a hit amongst everyone. Also try their fries! It was to die for. Best i have tried! If you want tasty pizza with a difference, try this place. Trust me, you won't regret it!! Will be ordering pizza again...
