The Pho — Restaurant in Modesto

Let me just say, if you are going to charge my party of 5 a 15% gratuity, make sure your receipt DON’T print party of 6 gratuity charge. That just rubs me the wrong way. We were going to see how much to tip when we saw that and we didn’t tip additionally. Our bill was $90+ and you charged us $13+ tip to total almost $115. I don’t have a problem tipping 15%-20% but just don’t have your receipt say PARTY OF 6. I understand that some people don’t tip but I didn’t like how you assumed we won’t. That is on top of the fact that the service was mediocre at best. We went in and the sign said “wait to be seated”, waited A good 5 mins before anyone even looked at us. The shorter of the two waitress pointed to a random table and didn’t say a thing and we asked to clarify which table. She didn’t ask what we wanted to drink and just walked away. We knew what we wanted but she didn’t ask. She came back after 10 mins with water and we ordered because we didn’t know when we would get her attention next. We ordered 1 coffee in the beginning and wanted to add another, but we literally could not get her attention and she didn’t stop by our table even once after giving us our food. We had to literally look around trying to catch her attention for a good 10 mins before we spoke up and said excuse me after she walked by our table. Food was fine like any other typical place. I came in after an appt across the street looking for something quick to warm up. One waitress came and said that none of the booths were available but if I was okay with sitting at a table, she showed me to the table and asked if I wanted water while I waited. I said sure and sat down looking at the menu then my phone while I waited and waited and waited until 30 minutes had passed and tables that were seated after me had already placed their orders etc. I realized the wait staff forgot about my existence while I was sitting in plane sight. I went to the front counter and one waitress saw me and asked what I needed. I said that I had been waiting to place an order for 30 minutes and no one had taken my order. She said she would help me after another table. When she came back she asked if I knew what I wanted to order. I said #2 small and I had been waiting for water the whole time as well.
