We ordered Strings tonight through Grubhub because we had been traveling all day and wanted something to go. I placed the order on my phone around 1:30pm, for a 4:00pm delivery to my house, since we already knew what we wanted and dine at this location frequently. When the delivery driver got to our house, he told us Strings had tried calling us because they were out of Picatta Sauce for the Chicken Picatta. (They didn't), so we were 1 meal short for my husband. After taking the rest of the order in the house, I noticed that our Artichoke Ravoli had Alfredo sauce on it. On Grubhub, I specifically put in the notes for Marinara sauce only and no Alfredo. At this point, I called the location and spoke to Brooke. She told me that they wouldn't be able to fix my order and that in order for me to get it corrected I would have to contact Grubhub, and completely brushed off responsibility and basically said it wasn't their problem. She also said "you placed that order quite a few hours ago and our cooks had to rush to make it when the Grubhub guy showed up to get it." I asked why the timing of me placing the order on the website had anything to do with their mistake on my food, and she said something again about me placing the order "hours ago" and the cooks having other things to do. That only told me that they completely forgot about my order, threw it together at the last minute and didn't pay attention to the requests on the order so they could rush it out the door. They also didn't notify the Grubhub driver until he was on the way out that they would be 1 meal short, and he was super nice and apologetic for their mistake. I would expect a restaurant to own up to their mistakes instead of blowing me off and telling me to contact Grubhub to resolve the order. They easily could have remade my messed up meal and I would have gone to the location myself to pick it up. Thankfully, I was able to contact Grubhub after the fact and receive a refund for the meal we didn't get, and also a refund for the one that was messed up.
Not sure if I, or the rest of my family will be back after the service and response to our complaints that we...
Read moreWe came here on 4/20/2022 to celebrate my dads, husbands and sons birthday. We had a party of 7 of us. I feel like we should have chose somewhere else to celebrate. Our service was pretty bad. Took awhile to get our drink order, we had to ask for bread which was after being there for about 25 mins and putting in our food order and after we seen others with it. We had to ask 3 times for refills on water, had to ask for parmesan cheese for the pizza my husband ordered. My mom had to send back her dinner that was the braised beef short ribs because sauce was terrible. Which they gladly exchanged for something else she wanted. My chicken Marsala was tough chicken but I liked the mash potatoes. 3 of us ordered a side salad and my husband and I had some brown lettuce and huge amounts of sunflower seeds and raisin that I ate around. The calamari batter was weird..it’s hard to explain but the fried zucchini was good. We ordered 2 Italian cherry vanilla cream sodas and they barely had any flavor. Tasted more heavy cream than anything else. Andy was our waiter and he just was kind rude like it was a bother waiting on us. They don’t celebrate birthdays but did give my son and dad a scoop of vanilla ice cream. For $134 it could’ve been way better food and service! Especially when they were even...
Read moreBeing Sicilian I'm very picky on my food. But I do have to say their food was okay but very high price for what you got. For just for people it was $140. We could have paid a lot less by going to Papapolloni on McHenry. But it's hard to compare their food as a quality and the prices a lot better for the quality you get then I received at strings. I would have to say strings taste like fast paced Italian food whereas the other restaurant on McHenry is more authentic and is handmade to perfection. If you're entertaining a guest or on a date I would not really recommend strings as a high-quality Italian food or if you're looking for some place that is affordable. But I do have to say their services quick and friendly I just wish their quality match their I'm not opposed to paying a high price for good quality food. I am in the top 10% of restaurant reviewers the United States and I take it very seriously when I review a restaurant and I do not get paid or reimbursed for any of my post or reviews. I like to keep my integrity on...
