East Chinatown — Restaurant in Modesto

I ordered this because I found it on the DoorDash app. I thought I'd try something new and reviews looked good. I ordered a combo plate with 1 eggroll pork chowmein Mongolian beef (hope it was meat anyway) and an order of pork fried rice.. the rice was basically white rice with sprinkles of carrot and peas. And again what I hope was meat texture was questionable. Noodles were soggy and the only flavor in the dish was a weird taste that took over everything even the egg roll.. I will not order from here again and not recommend this.. neither of my kids would eat it (they LOVE chinese food) and I only ate a small portion I drenched in soy sauce to take over the awkward taste. Now I never write bad reviews. I feel like everyone has their own opinion.. but i was so extremely dissatisfied I had to let ppl know.. be forewarned. Worst chinese...

On my goodness.

We had ordered on Christmas eve and the business was slammed. Apparently we were not the only people to order Chinese on this day.

I phoned my order in and waited the requested time, about 30 minutes, and drove there. As I arrived the line was to the door and there were only two tables open for in house dining.

Long story short, after waiting an hour and a half, I received my food which was delicious.

There were only two mistakes on my order too; The pot stickers were doughy inside and there was a mix up between orders. We ended up with someone's steamed vegetables instead of Broccoli Beef.

I call and was provided the customer service I would have expected, I was advised I get a free broccoli beef next time I visit. As long as they remember.

I was greeted warmly when I arrived, and my drink order was taken in a timely manner. I would have to say the the customer service was somewhat lacking though. It took a while to get my drink, and for my order to be taken. There were no other people in the restaurant but the cooks appeared busy with call in orders. Food was pretty good, but again the service was lacking as I was not provided a refill in the entire hour I was there. Overall, I would probably give this place another try as the food was pretty good, but just give yourself extra time if you’re on a lunch...
