On a mission to have Superbowl Sunday hot wings, I stopped in here with my husband. After ordering the top-notch, top-spiced wings, the chef stepped out to see which female placed the order. He said only one other woman, younger than me in her 20s, had ever done so. He delivered on the promise with eight great-sized wings, and readily obliged when I requested a piece of bread "just in case". The wings were super hot but had flavor, which others lack. They grow there own peppers on site which is intriguing enough. My husband's heat level is black pepper, so he ordered chicken tenders. His order was large enough for a meal and he was very happy with his choice, too. Guinness on tap is always a draw for me. But I also noticed that among the numerous sports banners one with the rainbow flag next to a Cubs banner. That is huge, welcoming everyone who enters without some stupid slogans. Bravo for courage. Sensory overload as it is a sports bar, with TVs tuned to all manner of sports including doggie football. It was a blast, filled with good cheer. My husband has been visiting them off and on for years, and his bro is also a frequent visitor. Sports dudes even if now transitioning into armchair QBs so it works for them.
Another significant positive step: these people take the environment seriously. To-go orders are packaged in materials to help, not hinder, personal pollution. It is a trend I wish other eating establishments embraced. For an extra 50 cents, I am happy to have recyclable containers offered as opposed to mindless landfilling. All the small stuff matters.

Read moreThe food was okay. The service was pathetic, though. We waited (no exaggeration) 1 hour and 15 minutes for our three meals to be cooked on a Sunday evening. We were never checked on during our visit (including no drink refills). When we inquired about the status of our food at the bar, the worker told us that the meat is frozen and needed time to thaw (we ordered burgers..)
When we finally got the check, the waitress told us that she accidentally gave the wrong check to another table and we had to pay using the receipt from another order. It was a very strange experience. We couldn’t confirm the total on the receipt was the total we owed.
As mentioned, we stopped by on a Sunday evening (dinner time). It wasn’t very busy.
Okay pub food. Horrible,...
Read moreIf you go here, get the quesadillas. Although I didn’t order them (I had the Breakfast Burger), I tried them and they were delicious. The chicken was juicy and moist and the pineapple aftertaste was tropical, but not super strong. And the cheese was gooey and melted on the tongue.
The food was fairly cheap, but the onion rings were cold, so I’m taking off one star. The coleslaw was also pretty nice, creamy and sweet if you like it that way.
There was no dessert, which was disappointing, but alas that isn’t the...
