Service:

  1. Waitress was wonderful! Friendly, upbeat, and attentive without hovering. However, there's another element to service, and that is online expectations. I had looked up the menu before arriving to see if/how it had changed since I moved from Molalla. Their online pricing is grossly incorrect, and their response is that the online pricing is from the previous owner's when it was "Jill's Hitchin' Post," now it's "Gene's Hitchin' Post. Head's up... your customers don't care if it's Jill's or Gene's or Johnny's, or Jake's Hitchin' Post. In this age of technology, you need to keep your online points of reference accurate.

Food: 2) The waffle was just...awful. It tasted like they didn't make waffle batter that day and, rather than say that and allow me to order something different, they just put pancake batter in the waffle machine. The result was a doughy, rubbery, waffle textured disc that couldn't even be cut with a fork. I barely ate 1/4 of it, and it didn't stay down. The eggs were great. Bacon was good.

I lived in Molalla for a number of years before moving to Washington. Recently (04/18/24), I brought my pet into town for a veterinary procedure and planned to spend the day revisiting some of my favorite spots around town while waiting for him.

I always loved breakfast at the Hitchin' Post and had been looking forward to it for days. I looked up the menu online to see if/how it had changed. It looked to be about the same as I remembered.

I dropped off my pet and headed over at about 8:45AM. There were three tables of people and one other customer standing and chatting. I sat at the bar so as not to take up a table and impact the server's income potential. I ordered the waffle breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon. The bacon was good... nice and thick cut. The eggs were nicely scrambled. The waffle; however, was a rubbery, inedible disc that couldn't be cut with my fork, not the crisp, fluffy delicacy it should have been. I suspect they failed to make waffle batter and just put pancake batter in the waffle machine. It was disgusting. I couldn't eat it.

After leaving, I drove around for about 20 mins, looking at how the town had changed when I started to feel unwell and got sick. Very disappointing considering how much I was looking...

2 of 3 orders this year have been made wrong when I've called in my orders to pickup my lunch. I don't have time to wait for things to be remade or corrected during my lunch break. I just need to get it and go.

When I mentioned the order was made wrong the waitress responded with a rude tone, even though I asked to take it as is.

I was really looking forward to that Bacon & Blue Cheese burger with Swiss. Oh well, I got a salad from Bear Creek Pizza instead.

Reply - Yes Cathy, that was today 09/22. My order was incorrect several months ago also, so I didn't return or come back right away. Last week was the only time my order has been made correctly. I came in and ordered it and then picked it up shortly after. Because I enjoyed it so much last week I was looking forward to the same thing this week. I really don't know what you can do. Serving me better would be making what I ordered. I specified the time as 12:50pm for pickup, and the order was ready but incorrect. I offered to take it as is and felt snapped at and argued with. I'm sorry, I just don't tolerate that style of...

We had an absolutely horrible experience. We arrived there today at 11:50, waiting for a table. We asked a staff member if we wanted an outdoor table, should we wait outside? The staff member advised to do so and also to just have a seat when a table came available. After just a few minutes we sat down at the far corner table, which was not cleared off or cleaned. We waited at the table for about ten minutes and noone came to clear & clean the table. I went inside to let someone know. A staff member came out and cleared the table, but did not clean it. She asked if we wanted something to drink and we asked for water with a straw. She brought back waters, no straws. After a few more minutes she brought menus. We then sat there for 20 min while the waitress returned three times, not to take our order, but to fish underneath the deck (a few inches from us) to try to retrieve a dope pen. She never took our order, so after being in this establishment for a half hour and being completely ignored by staff, we finally left. We will NEVER go to this...

Was out exploring and stopped here for breakfast. Hands down the best omelet I've had since I don't know when (diced chicken fried steak in an omelet with cheddar, under a warm blanket of country gravy. Holy @$!# it was good. The service was almost Hollywood cliché - warm, made you feel like you were at home, and always busy keeping the place running but never harried enough to not check up on you. The place was fairly busy, but the food took minutes. The rustic western theme is done to diner perfection, and having the old TV series Stagecoast West on a flatscreen above the door was perhaps the greatest thing ever. I forgot where I was while I was in there I was so immersed in the atmosphere and food. A lot of upscale restaurants could learn a thing or two here. Cheers for the awesome brekkie, mate.

Paige the waitress recommended chicken fried steak omlette with cheese and gravy. Indulgence and deliciousness guaranteed. I managed 1/3 of the omlette.... pancakes were delectable, even better than they looked! I could not have had a better breakfast! My companion had a bacon cheeseburger which he enjoyed and hot chocolate with what tasted to me like very fresh whipped cream. Homemade goodness AND no doing the dishes! That's a two fer and why I am giving this place rave reviews!

Place filled with elderly locals. Staff are kind and know most patrons by name. Slow response time when busy for sure. Had to request my menu. Food here is excellent though and order was prompt, even while busy. I'd eat here again, but I wouldn't drive out of my way for it.
