We arrived at 4:40 on a Monday to eat a sandwich and get dessert. The posted hours stayed they closed at 5:30. The girl behind the counter immediately told us (after everyone seemed confused as to why we were there) her grill was off so we could only get cold sandwiches. We sat down and several minutes later (there was no one else seated in the place) a waitress came over with waters and proceeded to tell us that basically we couldn't get any sandwiches. We left very upset. I brought my seven-year-old great niece to experience this landmark establishment and instead left very frustrated and confused. Don't offer food if you're unwilling to serve it until closing time and train your staff better. As we were leaving the male employees were already pulling all the outside furniture inside. Words do not describe our LOVE of this long-time QC traditional establishment! Originally from the QC's, now living in Atlanta, a visit to "Lago's" is a MUST during each visit home!!! The charm of this original location in downtown Moline is worth the trip alone! It's like stepping back in time! Choosing something from the menu is a delight...everything on it is excellent! Love the bread & sandwiches, the ice cream, the homemade hot fudge sauce, the soda fountain drinks.
