Miss Mamie’s 3925 16th St Moline IL 61265
The first thing you’ll notice pulling up to this place is that it isn’t going to win a beauty pageant. There is a hodge-podge of faded colors that needs a desperate make-over. The theme then continues inside with a dated décor and a musty - will someone please give me a deep cleaning odor that greets your nose upon entering. However that’s where the bad ends. The rest of my experience was definitely surprising. The waitress we had was phenomenal. She timed all of the courses perfectly and paid a special attention to detail you will rarely see.
One of the unique things that you are served is cinnamon rolls with your bread that are fantastic. They are not overly sweet and give your pallet a sweet start that sets the tone for the salty and savory crab cake appetizer. The three perfectly prepared and awesomely delicious little cakes of love sit atop a drizzle of a pesto cream sauce. Dipped in the remoulade sauce with a spritz of lemon mmm…mmm! Next I had London-Broil (from the menu) 7 oz. center cut sirloin. Grilled, sliced and topped with mushroom bordelaise and crispy onion straws 15.99. London-Broil can be a fickle cut of meat that will easily seize up upon cooking and be a tooth extractor. This was surprisingly tender and that bordelaise sauce was so good I got desperate at the end trying to sop up every last drop of it. Also I’d like to add that they have a better than average kids menu that doesn’t all come out of a bag in the freezer. I tried the kids ribs and would order them for myself as an entrée, also my sons chicken strips appeared to have been home made as well.

Read moreI have been going to Miss Mamie's since I was kid with my grandmother and mother. My daughter wanted to go here for her birthday when she was 8 years old, because she loved the chicken strips and ranch. My daughter is currently 17 years old and still likes the chicken strips. We live approximately an hour and 1/2 away, so that tells you that they have a good reputation, when there are several places to eat in the Quad Cities, but we would always choose Miss Mamie's. I have to say my family went here yesterday for lunch and a lot has changed. Very disappointed that there isn't a lunch menu anymore. My mother would always get the half and half chicken salad and spinach salad. They no longer have the chicken salad we were told, so my mother got the spinach salad by itself. My daughter would get the chicken strips and fries and substitute the coleslaw foe cottage cheese, and we were told they no longer have cottage cheese. We found the prices were increased quite a bit, which I understand with inflation etc., but not to go for lunch and your bill $70 something for 4 people. I had the special Mushroom and Swiss burger with fries and water, daughter had chicken strips fries and a diet, mother had spinach salad and ice tea, and my father had meatloaf, French onion soup and a diet. Food was okay, but not for the price. Sorry we were...
Read morePrices have went up again the second time around probably after the remodeling job. Anyway no more complimentary cinnamon rolls they switched back to their dry yeast rolls now yuck!!!! But if you want a cinnamon roll you'll find them on their dessert menu for a charge. They took their grilled shrimp Po'Boy sandwich off their lunch menu as well. I tried the Beef Sroganoff & it was awful. The beef tips were thin & tiny & the gravy was very watery. Reminded me of a bland watered down TV dinner definitely not worth the price. The only thing that was good was their combo of ribs & catfish. Last year I took my son there for dinner when he visited me from living in Los Angeles & I asked him how he liked it & he said it was alright but way too expensive lol. Being retired I've traveled a lot to different states & ate at some really nice fancy restraunts that were much cheaper than this place & tasted even better just sayin, but also being honest. Everyone says this place may be pricey but the food is excellent & I have to disagree with that. Not all the food is excellent & they're still milking the prices out of the customers no matter what they choose off their menu & most of these elderly people live off low income social security checks each month so they can't always afford to go out to eat at high...
