I picked up my 17-year-old stepdaughter from getting her nails done around 6:45 PM on Tuesday, May 28th. I took her to get pizza at Jennie's for takeout. We pulled up to the front of the establishment and she got out of the car to go order her pizza. I noticed that she looked uncomfortable in the store. (for whatever reason all teenagers are awkward around each other until the ice is broken) seeing my child's discomfort I go inside to help her order. I already know what kind of pizza she likes so I tell the teenager taking my teenager’s order “Pepperoni, sausage, and onion small pie” I immediately return to my vehicle. My daughter comes out and says “they said 20 minutes “ I took her home and came back out because I had errands. I get to Jennys pizza 30 mins later and the pizza is still not done. No problem. The police come in to jennys 15-20 minutes of my additional waiting. The employee immediately hands me my little 10” pie and I'm on my way. I get in my car to leave and second squad car pulls up and instructs me to pull over. Apparently someone from Jenny’s staff called the police and stated that my daughter was in distress while ordering and I look like I was arguing with her at their establishment. That's right, they held my 10”Pepperoni, sausage, and onion small pie until the police showed up. Let’s be clear my stepdaughter and I do not look alike. I am of African-American decent and my stepdaughter is of Asian descent, but I take care of that child like she’s my own. that’s how I know she was in distress when she was ordering & that’s why I came in to help her. To assume the worst of me because the way I look is one thing. For someone to call the police on a father trying to help his child order a pizza is disgusting, egregious, uncultured, poor judgment, followed by poor management. Because this teenager and I don't look alike doesn't mean we are not family. I have 16 years currently in Law enforcement and I know when I've been profiled. Thank you Jennie’s staff and management for the experience. I won't forget it. Psalm 139 O Lord, thou hast searched me...
Read moreWe made a reservation a week in advance for our party of 17, including both adults and kids, so the restaurant was well aware of our group size. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, the experience was disappointing.
The hostess repeatedly stared at us and rolled her eyes simply because the kids were laughing—mind you, they weren’t being disruptive or disrespectful, just enjoying themselves. If a restaurant claims to be family-friendly, it should actually welcome families, not make them feel unwelcome.
Service was equally frustrating. Some of the kids were still eating their pizzas when the waitress came up behind them and took their plates without asking. The same happened to me—I was almost done with my salad when my plate was suddenly taken without a word. To top it off, it became clear that the staff was being instructed to rush us out. A manager (or someone in charge) told the waitress to speed things up, despite the fact that we had only been there for 1 hour and 30 minutes—most of which was spent waiting for our food to arrive.
Overall, the service was unwelcoming and rushed, and we won’t be coming back with family or friends.
UPDATE:
Dear Restaurant Representative, thank you for your response. However, I’m not sure which reservation you reviewed on your security cameras, as our children were never near any booths. They remained seated in their designated area the entire time, except when they needed to use the restroom or speak with a parent.
Additionally, no hostess ever approached them to ask them to be quiet. If that had been the case, I believe the appropriate approach would have been to address the parents directly so we could have handled the situation accordingly—rather than receiving...
Read moreOrdered two pizzas tonight. One medium cheese and one medium fresh clams casino costing $32 +. We’ve been getting pizza for years at Jennie’s but we were extremely disappointed tonight. Not only with the clam casino pizza but with the attitude of the manager. The clams were whole and extremely large. Could not even chew them they were so tough. Usually chopped clams are on the fresh clam casino. The bacon was half cooked. When I called and spoke with the manager all he said was it says whole clams on the menu. I checked and it says fresh clams not whole clams. I told him I was going to give him a bad review and he said ok. I expect cooked bacon and clams that are chewable on the pizza I order. What good are clams that are so large that they can not be chewed and raw bacon. Will not be going back there. There are several GOOD Italian restaurants in the !ontoe and...
