Monroe Social — Restaurant in Monroe

For those who know me, and you see my reviews, I try to be fair and accurate. However, these are only my opinions as you might have a better experience. If you want to go to a place where if you are not a "regular" you will feel unwelcome, and receive absent service and IF they bring you food it will be just okay. This review is based on three occasions over the past few months where I went myself twice, and with my wife once. When going by myself, sitting at the bar I received looks from both the staff and the regulars as though you intruding on someone's territory when selecting an open seat. You will get slow service and in some cases no service at all. If you get food, it's standard pub food, they try to have a diverse menu but can't execute on that. Something as simple as roasted/deep-fried Brussels sprouts are almost raw/hard with some crisp on the outside. Branzino overdone and dry. I went with my wife and the service took forever in a half-full place during the week. The staff/owner like to stand around and chat while waiting for food. I would hope that the owner would help support the kitchen to get food out faster. Though I give them credit for their grilled octopus which was good, the lobster ravioli was not. Food: For appetizers, we ordered Brussel sprouts, topped with pumpkin seeds, bacon, and local honey. They were good. We also ordered the coconut shrimp w/ sweet chili sauce, and that was definitely my favorite part of my meal. So delicious! Especially the sauce!

Entree: I ordered the bacon cheese burger, and it was good. Could have used a bit more seasoning on the meat, and the bacon could have been cooked longer, but I did enjoy it. The French fries were delicious.

Ambiance: cute little bar style. Very clean. Loved that there was a gentleman there singing. I'm not sure if this is just a weekend thing. We came on a Saturday. There are lots of different types of people there. Very chill and cozy vibes. Loved the dimmed lighting.

Service: Sadly, I forgot our servers name, but wow, was he great! Very patient, kind, and funny. Very attentive.

I wish I could review this place a hundred times over, because they deserve it! Constantin went above and beyond for our two events [bridal shower and rehearsal dinner]. I've never felt so comfortable with planning anything before, and even when I ran out of time that I couldn't decorate for my rehearsal dinner, he made sure to put something on the tables for me. I felt so bad about it, but it definitely released a lot of tension and anxiety for me, as I was having a bad day before that. From butterbeer, crazy ideas, getting the linen colors I wanted and just dealing with me [I can be hard to handle at times], he made it seem so effortless that I can't thank him enough.
