Burger Basket — Restaurant in Monrovia

I remember coming here when I was less than 10 years old. Actually, it was my mom who brought me here because she was doing stuff in the area. I'm pretty sure I didn't think it was anything special and actually preferred McDonald's at that time.

Fast forward 40 years.

I don't think I ever would have came back if it wasn't for noticing all of the good reviews about this place. Because I drive by it often and from the outside nothing has changed, I always figured nothing has changed on the inside with the food either.

I'm glad I did. It's owned by a different couple now but I think they've owned for almost as long as I've been away. Very nice couple, the wife takes orders and handles the money and the husband stands behind the grill and cooks.

I know that my tastes have changed - usually for the better. I also like eating at dives or holes in the wall, as long as the food and service is good, so I'm not as easily swayed by looks. But I also know that the food here is better under the new owners.

I ordered a Cheeseburger, fries and a soda. I'm pretty sure the lettuce is much fresher (precut lettuce in a bag before), I think these owners change the cooking oil often (didn't have any aftertaste like the previous one's). And they're sauces don't taste old or too processed. Plus, they give you a quartered dill slice.

And those 3 differences was enough to go from a 1 star to a 3 plus 1 more because the owners are so sweet and kind.

Okay, so the place looks pretty bent out of shape from the outside, but I was in the mood for a chicken sandwich and this place is pretty close to where I live, figured it’ll deliver the quickest. Ordered from Uber a chicken sandwich, fries, and onion rings. And I was SO PLEASANTLY SURPRISED at the quality of food. Fries crispy af, maybe double fried, but still super crispy after delivery time. Same with onion rings! And the chicken sandwich, wow the patty was crispy, the greens and tomatoes and onions were juicy, none of it had slouched down like sandwiches from the big name joints. This is a small burger place in the 626 area. I did not realize of this place after living here for 4 years. There is a small parking lot. They have their A/C on in the cold weather. Because of that, we order our burger to go. We ordered a double cheese burger with fries. I used the Yelp check-in offer for a cheese burger, and a side of fries. The cheese burger is decent to me. The patty was cook perfectly. However, the fries was a bit disappointed. They were soggy. Thank you for the check-in offer. I am grateful.
