Leroy's has an awesome vibe. I've never gone because there's always been a line out the door on the weekends, but I finally pulled the trigger on a weekday.
The place is definitely busy and cute, kind of old-fashioned and cool.
I hate to do this but I'm trying to keep it real. I am certainly not trying to bash this business. I was charmed when I first walked in the door.
Having said that, the first thing I spotted as I waited to be helped, was a breakfast portion that was insanely large, a literal pile of eggs potatoes and chili on a plate. It was huge. The gentleman sitting with that breakfast was just about to get started to eat.
We waited only a minute or two, for our table, and when it was cleaned we walked back, sat down, ordered, and ate our breakfast. A breakfast pancake combo and an vegetarian omelet.
By the time I came back to settle the tab at the register beside the man I first spotted when I walked in, I look down and the gentleman, rightly so, had carefully carved out only 1/4 of his food, as clearly that was enough for his breakfast. 3/4's of the food remained after probably 45 minutes or more. it confirmed my feeling, and kudos to the man for knowing his limits and restraining himself from trying to eat more.
I've never seen such big portions. The sheer amount of food Leroy's serves to individuals, and other old-school restaurants like it, is why so many people that are unhealthy in our society.
As for my meal, it was heavy and I left feeling to full, even after making sure I didn't finish the whole thing.
Leroy's could cut their portions, easilt by 60% and reduce the price by $1, probably only a 10 to 15% reduction, and not only increase profits, but help their customers not to over gorge themselves in the process. Patrons would still feel full and satisfied.
I also found the restroom to be filthy. If I owned a place like this I'd make absolutely sure that every one of my employees pick up any piece of trash or clean up any mess they spot on-site.
...Maybe it's because the restroom is located outside of the restaurant but I don't think that's an excuse. If anything that's more of a reason to clean it twice as often.
My main beef with Leroy's is the food portions, I don't expect them to serve the best quality ingredients, as it's not that kind of place. If you continue to serve outrageous portions to the public, you are doing them more harm than good.
And please keep your restroom clean and grafitti free.
The main dining room was fine. However, I don't think I'll...
Read moreWe came in today on Saturday morning and I had the worst experience here ! Im not sure why they are rated 4.5 stars but we definitely didn’t get to experience that. I wanted to take my mother out for her birthday and as my fiancé walks in he gives her the number of people and his name and was told about 20min maybe even sooner (: great.. I was excited it wasn’t to long of a wait . anyways time passes by and it’s been about 20min so we wanted to check on the table cause we had observed other parties get seated before us although we were there first. I then walked in myself and asked the hostess and unfortunately I did not get her name cause I was so upset but I had asked her how much longer and she had nothing but attitude I was shocked... she was an older lady and had no sympathy . She said she had put us under the wrong name and said she thought it was George ? And since they seated another 2 parties before us we had to wait an extra 45mim and just smiled and said oh well ? Like what kind of customer service is this ? I then asked her what her problem was and why she was so snobby she then smirked and just handed me over to a waitress which I’m not sure if she was a manager or something but she was so helpful she understood the situation and knew the hostess was wrong and said she would sit us within 10min .. if this was handled like this from start to finish I would have given them all the stars but I can’t believe I was treated that way . Sucks to cause we live literally a couple blocks over and had been wanting to try this place but I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place I would rather pay the money and go somewhere with nice service than to...
Read moreThis is still the most racist place in town. I used to frequent this restaurant a lot about 10 yrs ago, But I noticed very hostile behavior and attitudes from the waitresses. They frowned when I walked in put their heads down, and would not say anything, if I ate there they appeared to be angry while taking my order. I’d observed their behavior towards other non minority customers, they were very pleasant, jovial and tolarable. I decided I would not give my money to them again. I recently ordered food from them because an Hispanic coworker raves about them, their a minority too, I thought things might have changed. I walked in a blond hair lady middle aged rolled her eyes after glaring at me, everyone else stopped looked, but no one said “HI WELCOME”. Some appeared nervous, and others appeared mad and angry. Again I see nothing has changed. I will not give LeRoys my hard earned money again. In 2018 we all know racism still exists, and Monrovia Calif has had a history of blantant racism but enough is enough. Minority dollars keep your business running just like white dollars. If you as a business owner knowingly allow racist into your business and support their beliefs it’s time to boycott this behavior. I’m calling out anyone who is treated bad just because of their skin color to take a stand and do not allow yourself and others to be treating in...
