Rudy's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Monrovia

When we got here, the hostess was extremely rude with an attitude ignoring our questions. I didn’t get her name but she was very stuck up. The waitress kind of made up for the bad service that the hostess gave us. The flowers given to mothers on mother’s day was an adorable touch. That was probably the highlight of this restaurant. I completely understand that it’s mother’s day and everything is crazy but still.. We ordered our food and an hour later still did not receive any food. Then the waitress has the nerve to bring out the menudo condemnts with no menudo, another 30 minutes pass and still no menudo. The lemons and onions she brought have already gone ugly from the wait. The waitress that took our order disappeared and never came back and different waitress had to call our waitress. This restaurant is ridiculous. I mean come on. Bad service, stuck up hostess and long wait. If i can give this restaurant 0 stars I would. I think food truck service is way better than this...

Food was decent, we had a table of 8 and they messed up one of the orders which was ok. There was also a 3% charge if you do not pay with cash which was also ok as we had cash. The part that got me is the handwritten receipt.. you can see here that it is very difficult to read. We didn’t notice at the time but the total was $159 and then it jumped to $185 so the waiter gave himself a $26 tip. This is common for a large party except for he failed to mentioned this and it was not listed anywhere on the messy receipt so we ended up double tipping. When we first got the check, I asked about splitting the bill and the server acted like it was going to be a lot of work (I think so we don’t notice the extra tip portion). Very average. Beans and rice were mild, not much seasonings. Beef taco, pan fried, was good. Chicken enchilada were not as expected, had dark meat, detected bone fragments. Portions were good size. $9 lunch price.

No salsa bar. House salsa, kinda watery, had green onions in it. My preference is for more cilantro, no green onions. Flame roasted Mexican chilies would help make this meal taste better, didn't have that option.

Not organic, felt digestive discomfort for two plus hours. Not sin grasa.
