We ate in today & it was 100% awesome. The food was hot and delicious. Service was great and felt very homey. Taking my order for the kids, they were very patient with the kids' picky order and even gave extra plates!
Cheese Nachos 5/5 - comes with mild spicy cheese, beans, guacamole, salsa! (The kids required things on the side. Honestly, I tipped extra because it's not often that a restaurant is so patient, friendly and actually remembers.)
Asada Fries 5/5 - Seriously, the best asada fries within the 15 mile radius! The asada was juicy, tender, and super flavorful. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft inside; perfect. It had the same mild spicy nacho cheese. YUM YUM YUM.
They had some chocolate strawberries that I forgot the name of 5/5 - It came in a cup full of fresh, sweet strawberries covered in chocolate and some pistacho cream. SO GOOD. Everyone enjoyed that one.
Plus, they offer a variety of salsas on the counter that are self serve. Churros aren't on the menu anymore which is a bummer (but, probably best for my health goals.) Also, I enjoyed the food so much that I forgot to take photos! Maybe next time,...
Read moreI am a fervent lover of King Taco but in Monrovia Taqueria El Diablo cannot be missed. The aguas frescas are insanely tasty, I don't even get why anyone would get a soda instead. Their generous $1 refill unlimited is Virtual Insanity. Guanabana. Pineapple. Watermelon...Horchata. Pepino..Mango... Fresa (strawberry). I could live only by drinking aguas frescas. About the menu. If you go there any day ask for the special of the day and GET IT!!!! do not even worry to try anything else... it will be and unforgetable experience. The chorizo potato egg bkfst Burrito It was shared with my Daughter for lunch.... it was so rich and the texture fresh... unbeatable and I ate it at home... at least 30 mins later. The tacos pastor o asada ... your taste buds will grow legs and drive you back for more and more. Now .........everyone knowns that every curita de pueblo ( town priest) has a little skeleton in the closet..... the chilaquiles were made with chips not real tortilla, sinful sin, even El Diablo would stop and say, Wait a minute... "smthing' aint right".... they were crispy and not really saucy... and crunchy.. tasty nevertheles but not the way our beloved Estela Garcia makes them at home..... so I would sell my soul to El Diablo if they can make real, I mean real...
Read moreThe first review I gave this place was 7 years ago the first time I tried a Tlayuda made me a fan of this place. This grand opening in Monrovia was long waited and I have to express my disappointment with the removal of certain menu items. To start off with no more torta chilanga, popusas, no more moronga etc. these options obviously were more of a hit with the latino community. The new menu caters to the other demographic of the area which is more of a Chipotle restaurant styled menu. The biggest question here is why the change of menu? I mean I went today and the nachos didn't look like the old style menu served nachos they looked like Taco Bell styled nachos! They even have a tostada bowl?? Say what?? Yes a tostada bowl, who else serves tostada bowls??? El Pollo Loco It is very obvious what happened here and it should not have happened this place was great the way it was I will take the old Diablo over this gentrified version any day of the year. Sad to say I don't think this will be my go to spot anymore it now became my last resort spot I was incredibly happy to see the reopening only to be thrown into this sold out taqueria who forgot about their main customers the Latino who made it there to get a feel of home in a not so home...
