Where to start? I learned about this place watching Netflix inst@famous out of boredom and in one of the episodes it was shot at the restaurant and the food and drinks looked so delicious I had to research where this place exisited! My partner & I went on a whim afterwork after realizing it's only an hour and some change away from us. Now this place has mixed reviews however I can honestly say Cuban Pete's is phenomenal! We loved everything about it!!! The moment you walk in you're greeted with a friendly smile from the staff. This place is enormous as well! We had a pitcher of mojito which you can add your own alcohol to as the restaurant is BYOA. We got appetizers, our diner entree's (the churrasco is Devine btw) and two desserts with Expresso to cleanse the pallet. Our waiter was wonderful answering all our questions and quite attentive checking back with us. The music was loud and vibrant as it made you want to dance in your seat(which we did a little off) There seemed to be a lot of birthday celebrations going on and it's a sight to see! Honestly everything was excellent. The only negative thing I have to say about our experience there is the parking situation upon leaving we'd gotten a parking ticket. Now they're doing construction in the area and some streets are closed and we parked right behind the restaurant BUT everyone who parked there also got a ticket on their windshield. So the parking situation needs to be fixed and I believe it's the city's fault and not the restaurant directly. So give them a visit and you won't be dissatisfied! I plan on returning next week with some girlfriends and parking at the parking garage 5 blocks away just to avoid another ticket.

I am not a regular customer but I’ve been a special occasion customer with Cuban Pete’s. The atmosphere, the waiters, the music vibes the color and just the uniqueness overall makes it always so welcoming even on their busiest summer days. Today I went in a with a random special request to have three family members see each other for the first time after not having seen each other for more than 10 years. Everyone was helpful and supportive of my request and the owner made it even more special where he let me get as creative as I wanted and made me feel at home. My surprise was a success thanks to everyone at Cuban Pete’s I couldn’t have done it without you guys. Food was amazing as always. We always go for the Miami salad it has such a unique flavor and food combination. The mojitos are good any flavor. Price is reasonable and everyone that works there is very understanding of your needs, concerns and knowledgeable on food suggestions if you were to need help picking a dish out. I love that I have never been rushed out and that I can actually enjoy my time with the special guests that have joined me here. in the summer you definitely get the ultimate best from this restaurant even though I recommend it all year long. Sitting wait time depends on the time of the year and the day of the week and it's always something reasonable Considering those factors. Also I believe its a BYOB restaurant with liquor stores very near by if needed .

5 star Cuban sandwich, 3 star everything else. What a weird experience this was. The vibe was immediately off when we had to pause to figure out where the entrance was. The door that was supposed to be the entrance had no handle and had a sign with an arrow pointing right that said 'entrance'. On the right of that was a long open hall with foliage on each side which opened up to tables and people dining but no signs of where to go. We eventually went through an unmarked door and found a disinterested hostess (she seemed more interested in her phone than anything else unfortunately.) A lot of people had our same confusion- we saw 5 people try to get in from that first door while we ate. They really could have used a few more signs- especially outside the door with the hostess. Onto our ordering experience. Mid-way through taking our order the waiter stopped and excused himself to get on his phone in front of us. Then he went outside and returned after a few minutes with an Apple bag. Nope not a bag of apples (which would make sense since this is a restaurant) but a bag with an Apple product inside. I really don't ask for much with customer service- but that was wildly unprofessional. Now the food. My fiance ordered a few Tapas- Empanadas filled with cheese and spinach, Croquetas the jamón and Fried Cheese. They weren't great- everything was rather bland and the Empanadas were dough-y. Also the sauces on there added nothing- especially the sauce on the Empanadas felt like they just plopped in on there. I ordered 'La Gloria Cubana' which is their Cuban sandwich. It was absolutely phenomenal and one of the of the best I've ever had. The pork was juicy and flavorful, the bread was crispy and the ham/cheese/pickle melded perfectly with the rest of the sandwich. The plantain chips were thin and just subtle enough to compliment the meal. Also the presentation was killer- it's served on newsprint so you can read some articles from 1950s Havana while you eat. Honestly I cannot overstate how great this Cuban sandwich was. So that was Cuban Pete's. One amazing meal and a lot of not great things surrounding it. The signage could be better and it could have been a very off day with the service- but I could put up with all of that if the rest of their food is as good as what I had. I'm just not sure if I'm willing to find out.

3 🌟 because the food is just okay. The butter and garlic overpowered any potential Cuban flavors and the mangos used were not ripe. The best thing on the plate was the coconut rice. 4 🌟 for ambiance. The Marc Anthony album on repeat got old after a while but it helped with creating the authentic Cuban theme that Cuban Pete's was portraying. 1 🌟 for absolutely no parking whatsoever. Had to drive a few blocks away and pay $10 to park. It was raining the night I was there and the long path of wood slabs to the physical entry to Cuban Pete's were a bit slippery. Also, the somewhat steep staircase at the back entry presents potential danger when wet but some rough surface sticky construction paper could fix both slippery surface problems. Unlike the food, the sangria was nicely done but Cuban Pete's allows patrons to bring their own alcoholic beverages. Nice touch but so much for the full authentic Cuban experience. The music echoed from the walls of the smaller back room where the sangria bar is situated and hence was a bit loud and Lord help you if you happen to be there on someone's birthday when Cuban Pete's team of authentic drummers blast out your eardrums. Too much is just too much. I really wanted to rate it a five but with the average food and sticky utensils and tables to boot I was unable to fully relax and have a good time. Also, while eating, a short man in a Fedora sprayed Windex on the table to my left to clean it and I couldn't help but wonder if some of the spray in the air got on my food. I was also surprised that the waiter wrote up the bill at my table on a booklet he grabbed from his pocket. Hard to tell what was being billed but since the prices on the menu were actually customer friendly I did not contest. A popular restaurant like this should have readable computer generated receipts. Did I mention the long wait? Very popular and crowded restaurant but overall okay experience.

Don't bother ordering from Cuban Pete's. This is a shabby, post-covid restaurant, with a questionable take out ordering system. First, I phoned to ask about menu items and included sides. When my questions were answered, I attempted to place my order but was told I had to use the web-based system to place a take out order. Okay. Second, the order system said my food would be ready in 35 minutes. I arrived at the restaurant in 30 minutes and my food was far from hot. It was room temperature to lukewarm at best. Okay. Third, when I got home, I opened my side order of Tostanes and to say that they looked unappetizing would be a compliment. I bit into one - against my better judgement - and was so concerned about how bad it tasted that I called the restaurant to tell them that they shouldn't serve them to anyone else. In addition to being cold, either the oil was bad or they had been sitting around for hours. The indifferent response from the 2 staff people that I spoke with was telling. THEY DID NOT CARE ONE FIG THAT A CUSTOMER PHONED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD THEY HAD RECEIVED. No I'm sorry. No thanks for letting us know. No I'll look into it. No offer for a credit or a coupon for my next order. Okay. Message received. Last, I ordered a piece of "Cuban" flan for dessert. The item was so small I don't think you'll see it in the photo attached. For $7.50 I could have bought an entire cake from FoodTown instead of 2 bites of sugar and cream. There was nothing about this meal that made us feel as if it had been prepared for us. Maybe next year will be better, but right now, Cuban Pete's? Fuggetaboutem - they've forgotten about you.
