New Review: The Best Slice In Town

Teglia has been my go to lunch spot for the last year or so. I usually hang out at the cigar shop across the street and come over for a quick slice.

Sweet Heat has become my favorite slice and it’s a true staple to the restaurant. The ingredients have been consistent time after time, when you walk in there you know you’re getting a great slice. By far the best slice in town there is no denying that.

Looks like Portnoy did review this place too! I guess he must have read my old review!

Old Review: I walked out of the cigar shop across the street and noticed this new Pizza place just opened up, so I decided to walk in and give it a go. Even though they don't open until 4:00 pm they were nice enough to make a whole fresh pie just for me. Most places would just turn you around, not these guys, excellent customer service! Now for the real deal, the pizza. I ordered the Classic Jersey Pizza, the first slice just blew me away, this is not your typical pizza joint, hand crafted and top notch quality that you can smell taste and feel. So Montclair is known for good pizza but I just discovered the cream of the crop!! Teglia is a small spot that just opened on Bloomfield Ave. and it's a MUST TRY!! I went in just after 4pm and met the owner/executive chef Joe. We didn't order online so we got a chance to chat with him as he hand prepared our pie. He brought his extensive background into Teglia and the menu shows it. It was hard to decide on which Roma style pie to order but we settled on the white meatball....this time! My wife talked me into a slice of butternut which she had been eyeing online that was surprisingly AMAZING. Who would have thought to put butternut squash puree on pizza?! All the ingredients are top quality and super fresh. Then his special recipe dough crisps up to perfection after taking 3 days to prepare!! We went home with the white pie and it traveled very well. The white sauce was delicious and creamy with a generous amount of meatball and spinach. Its truly a must try! We will be back very soon to try the others.

I keep going back and they KEEP GETTING BETTER!!! The sicilian was great but the classic jersey, half pepperoni half meatball was AMAZING!! LOVED IT!! Cant wait...

I visited Teglia Pizza Bar tonight. Though the restaurant is a take out business they were extremely friendly and allowed me to eat my slice in the small area designed to accommodate people picking up their orders . The location is excellent with two loading zones where one can park legally when fetching their order. Besides the best Sicilian pizza I ever tasted I got to talk to some of the staff as they worked hard in the kitchen bringing to life a breath of a world from across the Atlantic. Chatting with the workers I felt so comfortable that I, as an artist, could write a poem. We all have our stories to tell and Teglia Pizza Bar is one beyond excellence, it is a tale of taste of the Sicilian pie in all it's beauty. I say this as a proud Native American a member of the Lena Lenape tribe.
