WARNING: VEGETARIANS DO NOT EAT HERE. To everyone else, DO NOT EAT HERE. I've eaten at this location several times in the past and the most recent experience has ensured that I will never eat at this location or ANY Boiling Point location in the future.
I came with a party of 4, including my mother who is a vegetarian, and the only hotpot option that she could eat was not available due to the main mushroom ingredients being out of stock. There was absolutely no effort to accommodate. We asked if they could offer more of the available vegetables instead and was met with a hard "NO" due to company policy. The ONLY suggestion we were given was that we should visit a different location if we wanted that hotpot option.
I asked if we can order another hotpot option and have the meat/seafood put on the side or put them in our other hotpot order since we were paying full price just for the vegetables. Also met with a hard "NO" citing company policy. The only option we could get at this point was to order a hotpot that comes with meat and have them remove the meat portions and we would still get charged full price. What we would eventually end up receiving was essentially just a bunch of lettuce, an egg, and a few regular mushrooms sprinkled in.
We still decided to order since it was not worth the time to go to a new restaurant to eat. After receiving our food, the service became bare minimum to non-existent. The restaurant at this time was not busy and we were barely checked on afterwards. We had to flag someone if we had any requests and we also never received any water to drink that we asked for.
Aside from the terrible experience trying to get the order for my mother, the food quality of the other regular hotpot options has gone down significantly. I would not recommend to come even at this point even if you're not vegetarian. The food is simply not good enough and not worth the amount you are paying for.
I've been to several other locations in the past and they've all since closed down. Based on what I just experienced at this location, I wouldn't be surprised at this location will eventually close down as well. While it's not hotpot, I would recommend PP Pop that is walking distance just around the corner. Better service and their food tastes so much better.
I also sent a summary of my experience directly to the Boiling Point company feedback form. If they do bother to respond to my feedback it'll be more effort than this location provided to us.
Summary: Do NOT eat here, they will make NO effort to accommodate any request no matter how reasonable it is. Their company policy is a hard "NO" to accommodations according to...
Read moreWe’re huge fans of Boiling Point and always make a point to visit different locations whenever we’re in the area. Most of the spots are a bit of a drive from where we live, but it’s always worth it. This time, we stopped by the Monterey Park location since we were nearby.
We had about a 30-minute wait and were seated at a table for two. Now, something that’s always bothered me is how tight the two-person tables are—probably only 1.5 feet apart. It was fine at first, but this time it caused a bit of a problem.
A server was bringing a hot pot to the table next to us, and as she passed behind my wife, the woman at the next table stood up and accidentally knocked the server’s hand, causing the hot soup to spill. Thankfully, it didn’t land directly on us, but it still splashed on my wife’s legs (she was wearing shorts) and her white sneakers, and some got on my shoes as well.
I understand accidents happen, and we didn’t expect a big deal to be made out of it. But here’s where it gets frustrating—the server just walked away like it wasn’t a big deal. She went to get some napkins and a cup of ice, came back, and kind of just tossed them onto our table like “Here, clean it up yourselves.” She finally said “sorry,” but it was pretty half-hearted and delayed.
We spoke to the manager, and they called someone higher up. My wife even spoke with them directly on the phone, but there was no real resolution. The server who spilled the soup even had the nerve to say, “How was I supposed to know she was going to stand up? Do you think I spilled it on purpose?” which honestly just made the situation worse.
In the end, the manager and whoever was on the phone didn’t really offer a solution, except to tell us to file a complaint with customer service. The only thing they eventually offered was to comp our meal if we stayed.
For reference, we didn’t end up eating anything and just left since communication was going nowhere and it didn’t seem like they genuinely cared to apologize.
Look, I’m not upset about the accident itself—mistakes happen. But the lack of genuine apology, the careless attitude, and the fact that they don’t even say something like “Hot food coming through, be careful” when serving in such tight spaces really left a bad taste. I usually love this place, but this experience was disappointing enough that I felt the need to write...
Read moreWe visited last Saturday. After a 30-minute wait, we finally got a table, but it was right next to another one. While the staff was serving the table next to us, an employee named ToXXyom ChXX accidentally spilled soup near my legs, and it splashed onto my shoes and legs. I yelped in shock, but instead of apologizing, she slowly brought over some paper towels and ice, leaving me to deal with the mess while she wiped the floor. Even after that, she didn’t say a word of apology. I was furious, and eventually, she muttered a “sorry” before walking away. I was upset by her attitude, so I went to the bathroom to wash my leg with cold water and clean the stains from my white sneakers. When I asked for the manager, a women named KaXXXX said she was in charge. She called someone else, and after a lengthy conversation in Chinese with an upper manager named LuXX, I asked to speak with her directly since I didn’t understand what was being said. I’m shocked that the staff didn’t know how to handle such a dangerous situation. I almost got seriously injured. My white sneakers will need professional cleaning, and we ended up leaving without lunch, feeling frustrated and upset. I drove 30 minutes to get there, and my whole day was ruined by the employee’s dismissive attitude. In the end, she even said, “Did you think I would spill it? I didn’t know.” She just made excuses.
Mistakes can happen, but it’s how you handle them...
