Took my son there for lunch today. First the things we enjoyed.... The server Jessica was pleasant. The place is pretty clean. Fantastic layout
What I'm not a fan of..... We arrived at approx 11.45am and asked to sit in a booth. As we were being sat we were told "the servers don't come in until 12". Not a great start. I ordered off the Kids menu for my son and he ordered Milk (as is a choice with the kids meal). Jessica returned with a half cup of Milk, apologized and went on to explain that they just ran out of Milk and the delivery hadn't arrived yet. (I'm already thinking that should i ever return to Millers Ale House i certainly shouldn't be arriving before 12pm as very little else does). My boy is 7 and like most kids his age is limited in what he prefers to eat or drink. Fear not though.... He happily switched to the only other beverage he likes..... Apple Juice. This was met with "We don't do Apple Juice anymore". Somebody needs to inform the printers because according to your menu you do. My boy had to make do with water. Not exactly the treat that i had in mind. There isn't a single price anywhere on the kids menu. I assumed this would be a legal requirement. Maybe it isn't. One would assume Miller Ale House does tiered pricing amongst their restaurants with their kids menu and it's cheaper to print just the one version in bulk. How corporate. This one didn't really bother me but it does show how corporate restaurants can work. My son had to settle for tap water as his drink after he was let down with his first 2 choices. I asked for cheese to be added to his hamburger sliders and low and behold there was the upcharge. Again... This doesn't really bother me. I just thought it was an opportunity to show us you cared about letting us down with the drinks. No biggie. This is what gets me the most and let me say Miller Ale House is not alone in this shameful policy. When Covid hit EVERYTHING got so much more expensive. From production to distribution, prices just went insane. Restaurants had little choice but to raise their prices. Today..... With the major food distributors (US Foods, Sysco, PFG etc) the majority of food prices have returned to normal and believe it or not some are cheaper. Not every sector but most. For example Chicken Wings are cheaper for restaurants to buy now than they have been in years. YEARS. Most Seafood and especially Shrimp & Crab are cheap these days too. It disappoints me to say the least that some Restaurants haven't reduced their prices to pre-covid levels (with added inflation). I'm sure a corporate opinion is the fact that they may have lost revenue through the period of covid which is why they now are enjoying a much higher profit margin in specific areas of their menu. To the public though..... This is not fair practice. $17.99 for 12 wings? No thank you. These days restaurants can purchase a 40lb box of wings for about $55-$65. Thats on average a 35c-40c Wing. The profit margin is outrageous. Its greed I'm afraid. Plain & simple.
I noticed in your other reviews you ask reviewers to submit their review details AGAIN through your website. I won't be doing that so no need to ask. I understand your policy that you don't want to publicly make statements so you simply offer different levels of apologies. No need here. Im not looking for any compensation whatsoever.
I just thought you may have wanted to hear of our...
Read moreI don't normally do many reviews and don't complain much as I work in the food industry, but tonight's service might have been the worse I've ever experienced. I first want to preface this with the fact that the management team did comp my meal which I'm very appreciative of, but I do feel like the experience needs to be shared to warn others of what type of service they will be receiving at this location. I also want to say that I frequent usually the Langhorne location and have never encountered such terrible service. It started when we were seated. Three adults and one child. We were given two rolls of utensils to share between the four of us. Our order was taken quite quickly which was great, but after that is where it went downhill. Three of us were given our drinks but the alcoholic drink took absurdly long. So long that the child's meal came out before it got to the table. So long that we saw it sit for about ten minutes on the bar counter waiting to be served. The salad and soup was delivered to the table and still no drink. The salad was made wrong after my sister had asked for no onions and tomato but spread throughout the salad was both. Finally, the drink had arrived but not by the server but by the bartender that probably wondered why the drink was sitting so long on the counter. Not much longer the entrees arrived. My order was of course incorrect. Scallions spreaded throughout the mountain melt and no ranch to be found. I don't normally return food but I don't eat scallions. The remake of my order took a very long time. As someone that has worked in the business a long time you would think they would put a rush on the remake, nope. Fifteen to twenty minutes later and after the table was pretty much completely done their meals my meal arrived. Like I said they did comp it which I'm appreciative of but here's where it gets even better. The bill arrives not only did they not take the meal off, they added an extra zinger melt to the bill. Also Tuesday is kids eat free and they were trying to charge us for that meal. The bill was finally fixed and paid for. Overall I just don't feel like i'd go back there. The experinece was sup-par at best. I hope that this can be a learning experience for the crew and that they can learn from this. Taking people's orders are important and maybe going forward repeating an order might be something they implement into their training to help insure more correct...
Read moreMy experience at Miller’s Ale House was a bit like a roller coaster ride, with a bunch of ups and downs (luckily no loop de loops though). They have a large selection of food, which is nice for those days/nights you just can’t decide as a family what you want to eat. Additionally, they have a robust drink menu, with the most reasonable specialty drink price list I’ve come across at restaurants in this market level. While the drinks were tasty, the food was a bit lacking. My caesar salad came out luke warm, and our kids cheeseburgers came cheese-less. They quickly replaced the salad upon request, and the replacement was much better.
While the waitress took back our cheeseburgers to “re-fire” them, the kitchen had other plans, as they obviously just slapped a tiny piece of cheese on them and called it a day.
Not all was down though, as the Potstickers, Chicken Nachos, and Shrimp Jambalaya were all spot on.
As for service, the waitress was both pleasant and very engaged, and the food and drinks did come quickly. When we asked for a manager to remove the incorrect food items from our bill, the GM came over, apologized, and removed the cheeseburgers, the salad, and the potstickers just for good measure (which were good) from our bill to compensate. Additionally, she gave us 2 $10 vouchers for our next visit.
Overall, my first trip to the new Miller’s Ale House location in Montgomeryville may have had its ups and its downs, but in the end, the exceptional service outweighed any issues with the food (as did the Top Shelf Long Island Ice Teas, which were awesome and fairly priced as well).
I will happily return to Miller’s to give it another go, and recommend you check it out as...
