We tried Banh Xeo (Vietnamese egg omelet, Pho special (dac biet) and Bun Bo Hue), and the experience was below average. Soaring prices, we expected the food to taste good, with equal portions, and authentic flavors (as advertised, Authentic Vietnamese Cuisines).
Pho broth was only flavored by monosodium glutamate and lacked ALL spices that go into a quality Pho. They lack to season the broth with the bare minimum. For those who has not had an average pho, you need to have flavors or cinnamon, star anice, and other spices, however, this pho lacked in taste and flavor, just salty, and tasteless.
The bun bo hue was filled with oil/fat of what seems to be 4millimeters thick from the bowl served. Traditionally it the bowl is supposed to be filled with flavor, but once again, we were greeted with tasteless broth, and flavor. We had to scoop out the fat/oil into a separate bowl, otherwise anyone who's going to order it would be served with cholesterol and trans fat into their system.
The only promising food from the menu that we actually would give a 5 star would be their Banh Xeo. Not many other Vietnamese restaurant offers the taste of Banh Xeo, but this one does, and it delivers. The banh xeo was crispy, delicious, and portioned well for 2 people to share.
We followed up our dinner with 2 drinks, Thai tea, and Durian smoothie bubble tea.
The Thai tea was merely disgusting for a lack of better words. The tea did not have a bright orange color (as many of you may have tried) but it was brown and mucky. The bubble/boba pearls were very hard and powdery - not chewy. It seems that they cheaped out on even the pearls/bubbles/boba.
The durian fruit is my favorite niche fruit from tropical Asian countries, a taste/smell can only be acquired. My drink however, on first sip it tasted fine. Second, and third sips i began to notice an overabundance amount of sugar crystalline. The more you drink it, the harsher it is for your throat due to the oversaturated amount of sugar.
Pho Today has a very NICE interior design, modern seatings, and fixtures that is very appealing. However, their broths lack flavor, and depth with a VERY high prices ($17 for a bowl of Pho and Bun Bo Hue) leaves us...

Upon first approach, the aromatic essence of the rich, savory broth alone is enough to elicit a reverie of gastronomic pleasure. The tender rare steak and smoky well-done brisket, when combined, proffer a tantalizing symphony of flavor that is unparalleled.

Read moreWe have eaten at Pho Today in Plainfield, NJ and became a very loyal customer to this location. The service and items offered was wonderful. When we heard that Pho Today opened in Montgomery, we thought this is great since it was closer to us so we gave it a try.
First, the food was ok but the service was disappointing. We had 3 orders which the first two came out timely but the last order took over 30 minutes. It was so long that the customers who came after us and ordered that their food came out first. Please note the restaurant was not busy with customers at the time we were there.
Than we ordered spring rolls which never arrived and when we asked about it, we were educated by the waiter on the difference between a spring roll vs a summer roll. Keeping in mind that I am Vietnamese and very well know the difference between the two.
Last, the waiter never stopped by to ask how we are doing considering the restaurant was not busy.
Finally, we order a soup off the menu to go but was never told they didn’t have it or wasn’t making it. Why have something on the menu when you can’t fulfill the order?
Sometimes franchising is great for business but if it sacrifices the quality and service of the establishment than it’s not worth it. Very disappointed and will not...
