My physical therapist recommended Thai House Restaurant to me and I finally got a chance to check the restaurant out. Thai House Restaurant is an authentic Thai restaurant that serves traditional appetizers, soups, entrees, curries, noodles and rice dishes, and desserts. They share a parking lot with businesses on the strip. On the weekends, they serve dinner menu only.
If you don't know how to use chopsticks, you're in luck because everyone gets a fork and spoon.
For drinks, I enjoyed Thai Iced Tea while my boyfriend had a few beers.
We started with two appetizers - Spring Rolls and Larb Gai. The Spring Rolls consisted of four crispy spring rolls stuffed with shredded veggies fried and served with a sweet and sour sauce that resembled duck sauce. The Larb Gai consisted of minced chicken, red onion, scallions and cilantro, sprinkled with lime juice and exotic spices. It was flavorful but mild spicy was too spicy for me.
We ordered from the noodles and rice section of the menu. My boyfriend had the Kao Pad, which consisted of chicken stir fried with jasmine rice, onions, scallions, tomatoes, and egg. It was tasty and quite filling. I had the Pad Thai, which consisted of thin rice noodles stir fried with beancurd, bean sprouts, scallion and egg. I liked how thin the rice noodles were. I felt like the dish was too sweet and too sour at the same time.
We didn't want to leave without trying one of their desserts. Since the Mango Sticky Rice was out of season, we shared Coconut Ice Cream with Sticky Rice. It consisted of three large scoops of coconut ice cream on top of sticky rice. I liked how the coconut ice cream had roasted or toasted...
Read moreI've always loved the food at Thai House, but the degradation in service in recent months has made me reluctant to go back. Consider my last visit. I was there for dinner with a couple of friends. We walk in, are seated, and proceed to order appetizers, a couple of beers and entrees. The appetizers come out after about 10 mins, but without the beers. After another 10 mins i flag down our server, and remind her. She then brings them out. Then, my friends get their entrees, but I'm still waiting for mine. About 10 mins after they get their food, I wave to our server and ask her about my entree. She looks upset, as if I'm bothering her with something that's not her problem. She comes back after 2 mins and tells me they're making it. Another 5-7 minutes pass, by which time my friends have finished eating, and she comes back to tell me that "they're making it", in a tone that sounded like she was doing me a favor. I tell her, don't worry about it, just go ahead and cancel that entree. She starts arguing with me, explaining that the kitchen was working on a large to-go order, etc. All this time without apologizing even once, or taking responsibility. She then brings out the food, and i send it back, and ask her to get the check. She is definitely mad, but only about the fact that she has to take the entree off the check. The manager didn't even bother to come over to talk to us (no, it wasn't that busy). We pay and walk out of here, wondering what happened to what used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Sorry to say this but I don't think I'll...
Read moreFood Quality way down. Service and interest in "making it right" a zero!
Very disappointed. The picture below (Kee Mao) is all the oil that the food was sitting in, making it taste like it's been sitting around, and someone took the last of the leftovers.
The shrimp in the Basil fried rice with Shrimp was completely mushy, so mushy the texture was nauseating.
I've been ordering from here for several years and I've never had a problem or complained but it was so bad I called to tell them.
I spoke to Anita who said she was the owner, and she wouldn't offer a credit or credit for the future unless they had the food back. I explained I had a physical disability and couldn't walk down the steps to get the food out but no food back, no credit.
I've never had any restaurant require the food be returned before they brought the new order out and never imagined they would need it for a future credit or refund.
I have a physical disability and explained I couldn't get a new order, nor could I get one to the door and leave it for the driver.
To even send the driver back to pick up the food seems a waste, especially considering what are they going to do, eat the food themselves or are they going to add it back to the pot to reserve? Were they just making sure I wasn't trying to get more food and not pay for it?
Instead they should be embarassed their food was such a poor quality and offered to replace it or offer a credit for the future, and been thankful for...
