I have never been here. But pass it by often on my way to & from Birmingham. I figured I would stop, it was a Sunday, seemed like a good time and day for BBQ. 1st off we ordered the house chip loaded, the toppings were good but the chips were so hard, it seemed they were maybe not made that day, even though the menu says homemade daily. For the meal, the server said the ribs were the best, so I ordered a slabof ribs & a small okra and my companion ordered a 3 meat plate of chicken, ribs & sausage Coleslaw & Mac n cheese. The ribs came piled up, very little sauce drizzled on top and a small cup of sauce on the side. They were kinda hard, not much meat and not really hot, more just warm. The plate with the 3 meats, same for his ribs, barely warm, the chicken(which he was told was 1/2 chicken) was a leg quarter but he did like it, any the sausage came sliced and cold. He said his mac n cheese was like eating pre-made & warmed, and his slaw was ok, nothing memorable. I love to travel, and BBQ is my goto, I have eaten bbq from coast to coast, dive to diva restaurants, mom n pop stands included. I look for original, genuine bbq, I love all sauces, sweet to tangy & spicy. When dining in, I do not want cold food or hard as rocks homechips. I'm a southern girl with a real love for all things bbq, I didn't find this to be a great or good...
Read moreWe were recommended this place by a family member. We walked in on Father's Day. The place has a really nice, spacious outdoor patio seating area. Inside are bright red booths, tables and a bar. They even have a drive-thru. It took a few minutes for them to clean a table . Finally we were seated. It took a good while before a server stopped at our table. I chose the half chicken with sides of baked beans snd Cole slaw. The other meal ordered was a pork sandwich and fries. We both had Coke. When it arrived the chicken portion was very good. The chicken was awesome. Flavorful and juicy. Sadly, the sides were rather underwhelming. The beans tasted like they came out of a VanKamps can. If you grew up in the 70's, you know what I'm talking about. The cole slaw was very bland. And a slice of white bread..?? I don't get this southern thing with white bread and BBQ. I stopped eating white bread in the mid 70's. The pork sandwich was good and piked high with meat. The fries were...fries. The BBQ sauce is vinegar based and zippy. But not hot like the menu stated.
Overall, the place was clean and the meats are outstanding. But the sides were sorely lacking. Our server...
Read moreI just want to start this by saying I love BBQ. I've eaten BBQ from many regions and I have an appreciation for lots of different smoking styles and sauces. Dreamland is the first BBQ joint that I've tried in Montgomery and it set a pretty high standard. I ordered a simple BBQ pork sandwich with potato salad and at the waitress's recommendation I topped it off with some nanna puddin. The pork was chopped but with large enough pieces so you could still get a good idea of the texture of the meat. It has a great flavor without sauce but I had to try the sauce. They only have one choice of sauce but it was delicious. It was a tangy vinegar based sauce with just a touch of heat. It had enough heat to notice but no where near enough to be uncomfortable to anyone unless they have a zero spice tolerance. It was a great compliment to the pork. The sweat tea was great as well. It actually had a tea flavor without being diabetic inducing. The potato salad had a good mustard flavor and really went well with the sandwich. And yes the nanna puddin was delicious. Great food and a super friendly staff made for a really...
