I’ll start with the positive, I called yesterday evening around 9:30 to see if they could accommodate our party of 5, the hostess who answered was incredibly polite and told us we could be seated immediately. We were already in the area so we arrived in less than 10 minutes and were quickly sat like she promised. This was the only positive interaction.
Our server Laurel greeted us and we ordered our appetizers, two bottles of wine, as well as sangrias. Laurel informed us that all liquor had to be off the table by 11 pm. That was perfectly fine, it wasn’t even 10 and we were cool with the hour time space... That was until it took over twenty minutes and us asking repeatedly to get the drinks.
HERES WHERE THE ISSUES REALLY BEGAN. While I was about to take a sip of my wine, I noticed that my glass was dirty! Things happen, that’s fine. I told Laurel what was going on and informed her I’d like a fresh glass of wine. She came back about 10 minutes later with a “new” one only for me to notice it was the SAME glass and not properly cleaned... STILL. Once I informed her of the issue she picks the glass up raises it over her head looks around it and says she doesn’t see anything... WOW. A class act here. She then puts the glass back in front of me and leaves. Eventually she came back with another, but at this point I was already ready for the check.
The food arrived before the appetizers, and one of our pizzas was wrong. Laurel introduced us to the pizza by saying it was wrong, but said another would be out shortly that was correct. I added another star for her proactive thought on this. The appetizers being late wouldn’t have been a big deal if Laurel didn’t try to talk us out of the appetizers. We were asked leading statements like “Are you sure you still want them?” followed by “Well they’ll take another 6 minutes, are you okay with that? I can cancel them.” I guess we should’ve been less gracious and took the warning because the wings lacked flavor and the breadsticks weren’t anything to rave about.
At that point it was about 11 and quite frankly my group was over the experience. So we cancelled all thoughts of dessert as well...
Read moreThis was my (and my wife's) first time to eat here. My wife said that her small Cauli Breakfast pizza (cauliflower crust) was probably the best pizza she's ever had in her life! My daughter and I shared a half & half large Margherita/Pine & Swine, and it was perfectly cooked and ridiculously good! (Half & half is only available with a large pie.) She asked for some Ranch dip for hers, but they don't have it. Waiter Samuel brought some Gorgonzola dip, and it was good, but, if he had told us it was Ranch dip, we wouldn't have known the difference. I got some of that and some marinara for myself. Samuel kept our drinks full, and he got us to go boxes for our pizza we didn't eat & lids for our leftover sauce, as well as to go drinks, when we were ready to leave. He checked us out up front, as I used Apple Pay on my phone.
Our only problem was our seating location. We were inside, but the garage door that separates the inside from the outside was open, and either a strong breeze from outside or the fan above us (to keep out the bugs) or a combination of both made us feel like we were trying to eat during a hurricane. It was blowing our napkins, straw papers, menu all over the place and kept my girls relatively cold throughout our meal. I imagine it also caused our pizza to cool off faster than it might have otherwise. I suppose we could have insisted on being reseated, but we didn't. That small issue wouldn't keep us from coming back, but it will ensure that we choose a different seating location the next time we come.
Be aware--this place is good, but it's not cheap! Our two pizzas and three drinks (no alcohol) set us back $69...
Read moreWe're in town for work, I wasn't getting off until a little before 10pm and the restaurant closed at 10pm. I put in my order 25 minutes before 10pm, when I got there they asked me to wait a few minutes because they wanted to make sure my pizza was extra fresh when I got it. Wow! I've never had a restaurant timed when I'm off work to make sure my food was nice and hot.
We ordered the grilled chicken wing. Some of the wings were tad over charred, but the creamy gorgonzola dipping sauce made up for that. It wasn't super thick like ranch, a tad lighter in taste which I really enjoyed.
Our large pizza was half steak & mushroom, and Mediterranean shrimp. It was wonderful. The crust was thin and light, reminds me of New York pizza. I usually never eat the crust on pizza, but theirs was so flaky and wasn't dense at all.
The cheesecake was to die for, so smooth, again LIGHT and not heavy or dense. It wasn't overly sweet, everything was just perfect. We didn't care for the chocolate peanut butter brownie. Way too heavy, overly sweet and the ratios of peanut butter to brownie was too much.
The manager heard that I was coming from work and asked if I worked in the Eastchase area, I said yes and he gave me a 15% discount on my meal. I didn't even have to ask. Their service is the best I've had in a while. All the employees that passed by me greeted me with a smile. We will definitely be back for the pizza and cheese cake for sure, and hopefully get to try other entrees.
If you're in the area, don't miss this pizza joint for some food pizza. They also have an extensive...
