If i could give negative stars , I WOULD! The food, the service, the atmosphere (walked in at 8:50 and 60% of the chairs were already flipped on the tables including the bar - that gives customers the impression that youāre ready to go), EVERYTHING SUCKS! MIND YOU IM A SERVER and BARTENDERš. First, when you walk in .. nobody ever greets you, and please donāt walk in after 8:30 (and they close at 10) because you will be hit with āTake Out Onlyā IF YOU GET THAT. Knowing all of this, a member of our 3 top arrived earlier than us to secure a table. I arrived 5 mins later and the experience went down hill from there. The server finally arrived to the table to take our drink orders but informed us that before we could get our drinks he needed to sing happy birthday to another table. As a server myself, i know it would take me less time to make drinks than singing happy birthday therefore i would have made the drinks first .. BUT WHO AM I?!š Anyway, the servers who werenāt on their phone went and sang happy birthday and we still didnāt get drinks for another 10 mins. I finally received my fruit punch but was still waiting on a simple amoretta sour while the bartender was behind the bar visibly on speaker phone (Holding his personal phone in his hand while making him a drink in a togo cup)ššš. The server finally returns to take our order so i called our third guest to get her order because i didnāt want the kitchen to close before she arrived. (I NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT TAKEOUT). We get our orders placed and still no drink from the bartender who is still otp. I decided to go outside while my friend stayed inside and waited on our food that was for dine in. After 20 mins still no food, after 30 mins .. one order was up but not both and we finally got the drink from the barš. So the server was told to keep the other bag until both dine in orders were ready. After 40 mins i was over the whole experience and wanted to pay for the 30 min drink and leave. Mind you, NOBODY WEARS A UNIFORM so you never know whoās a worker. Everybody wears all black (thatās not a uniform), I HAD ON ALL BLACK coincidentallyš. Anyway, finally got the drink taken care of and left. Weāre outside in the parking lot deciding where we wanted to eat and we see the server coming outside with bags .. so weāre assuming heās bringing the food simply because the service was so horrible. Oh no, heās bringing the food so we can pay for it because āif we donāt pay for it theyāre going to take it out of his moneyā. Once again iām a server and bartender so i will go into this establishment and let the manager know that i will not be paying for this foolishness nor do i want it. We had already been told that they were āout of eggsā but still decided to get the food before the 40 minute wait. Once again we go in and you donāt know whoās working. Finally a guy with SHADES, A SOMBRERO HAT, A BLUE SHIRT, AND JEANS finally states that heās the manager (couldāve fooled meš). I begin explaining the situation and the server states that he thought the second order was takeout since i called someone otp. BUT DID I TELL YOU TAKEOUT ?? So then the server and the āmanagerā begins ARGUING with meššš As a grown women im not going to argue with two grown men , let alone a āmanagerā and server who should know āthe customer is always rightā mentality. No apologies .. NO NOTHING. The service is generally mediocre at Juicy Crab over the last year, but last night May 6, 2025 was beyond ridiculous. The whole place needs a 360 AND SOME! And it starts with the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJuicy Crab has a nautical theme with tables and booths. The booths are roomy but hard wood for they seats in case you have a grandpa who complains. The booths are very roomy for your brother who has that big beer gut. Btw the crowd was young (college age) when we visited on a Saturday eve. The tables seating have cushioned chairs. All tables have paper covering and you are brought a bucket with gloves, wet wipes and a bib because the idea is to get messy when you eat. The food is southern fried or low country boil themed.
We went on a Saturday night so had a 15 minute wait and there was a DJ so mood is electric like a club but isn't very good for conversation .
You are served on a stainless steel pan. The boiled dishes allow you to choose a flavoring and a hotness level. If you are used to spicy food, medium is normal with just a bite of heat. If you don't eat spicy food then request none or low.
The fried fish came in paper and a red plastic basket like fast food. The boil came in a clear bag. Both can be opened and spread out in the stainless steel pan. There are only napkins on the table, but no sauces. The ketchup arrives in small fast food packets. The sauces are not made in house, they come in plastic cups so you can peel the lid off it open. You can getva plastic fork if you ask.
There was a 30 minutes wait for food. The boil special had shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes. It was amazing but messy so use the bib to protect your clothes and your neighbors. The fried fish was dry but the Cajun fries were good.
The service was very friendly and helpful but inattentive after the order was placed. We did have one problem with the order but was not able to talk to someone until it was time for the check but they were able help then. This location has a sign that says they automatically add eighteen percent gratuity to any order and it is added for everyone whether it's two people or a group.
Over all it is a great party atmosphere and evenings are gearing more for college students and young adults than families or older people. If you want to be able to talk then request the seating area furthest from the music. The tables can also be put together for parties.
The special (boils) menu itens are excellent and they allow take out orders so if you have a craving for some spicy boiled seafood then that is the way to go. I may try them again to see if I came at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you are in Montgomery or somewhere close and if you love southern boil and seafood, you should go eat at this restaurant. Our experience here was fantastic. The place is just lively and full of life. The servers are all energetic and seemed to love what they were doing, which is great. The management must treat them right.
The restaurant has a warm ambience and is really clean. The tiki hut at the entrance was a really nice touch and makes you feel at ease right away. The restaurant can host large groups, too. Our server was Alexis and she was really pleasant. The menu has a mix of seafood and southern fried foods. Also features a kids menu. I ordered some raw oysters. They also have boiled and fried ones. Had been a minute I had tried some. It was pretty fresh and tasted amazing, buttery and creamy. My sister ordered the half pound shrimp(no heads) with cajun seasoning. Came in a large bag with potato and corn and was piping hot. I tried some and my god they were so good. The seasoning was just perfect. Southern taste at its best. I got myself the seafood combo with crawfish, black mussels and shrimp. Came in a large plastic bag, too, piping hot, with whole potatoes and corn. I opted for the juicy crab special seasoning and wow, the flavors, they just exploded in my mouth. The seasoning was a perfect blend of butter, lemon pepper, cajun seasoning. It was just heaven. The crawfish and black mussels felt great. Although it was mid of July when we were here, the crawfish felt fresh to me. The potatoes and corn were other highlights. We truly enjoyed our experience here. It's a must visit in my opinion.
So, what makes this restaurant amazing; the happy and energetic staff, the amazing southern taste and the laidback ambience that makes you feel you are on an island right in the middle of Alabama. It's amazing. We actually went back the other day and ordered the same exact things as takeout. It was that great and the portions are great, too. Highly recommended. Just have one suggestion for the management. We were seated on the booth by the window, which is on a raised platform and it's really narrow and my sister tripped twice on it while getting down. It wasn't hard for me to see why as the platform is really narrow and it's really hard to see it apart from the floor. Not a big issue I guess but could be dangerous at the same time. Overall, a big...
