Waffle House — Restaurant in Montgomery

Visited here today around 8am. There's a waiting list, but it only took less than 10mins, then they informed us that our table is available. Service is fast but still the food is fresh and warm. It took them time before they were able to accomodate us and give us the menu as there's alot of customers inside. I actually enjoyed my food (All Star Breakfast $7.90) the waffle is amazing (soft and crispy edges), hashbrown is good too, city ham was nice aswell, I ordered sunny side up eggs (you need to put salt in it) which was cooked as I liked. Coffee tastes great (they'll provide sugar and creamer on the side).. You pay at the counter after eating, take the paper that they'll put on your table and bring it with you in the counter. Tip is greatly appreciated. They're all friendly, it's just that breakfast is really busy. I grew up in and around waffle house but am rather disappointed with it over the past 10 years or so. The food still tastes good for the most part but the quality isn't nearly as good as it always was in the past. It seams like they had cut the quality and serving size of their meats. This is a problem mainly because less mass in the meat portion but same cooking time. This means that in general they tend to overcook the meat and make it tuff and dry. It has become all about making as much money as possible no longer about providing great food. It's far from the place I grew up in and not a place I'll take my family to make fond memories. Honestly. The cook never acknowledged my presence. They were short waitresses for over 40 minutes, the tables were so sticky and needed wiped and really cleaned bad. The menus were dirty, sticky, and the cook took money at the register. That's a fireable offense. WH doesn't allow any cook to punch the register or take money or make change. That's a fact. The bathroom STUNK like old mop/Clorox water. The bathroom was just dirty with toilet paper stuck up on the walls. No soap. Good hand dryer. Good parking. Not busy. Always ask for the $5 menu and the specialty MENU SINGLE item menu. Those are two MENUS patrons DON'T KNOW ABOUT. Leave a good tip. They work ALL HOLIDAYS... ALL.. AND are...
