Jasper County Wing Shack — Restaurant in Monticello

Did you ever notice when there's a poor review, it's often made by a person with like 50 previous reviews given? Take that for what it's worth.

Anyway, I really like this place. It's not formal dining or a family restaurant. It's a really good take out spot, though. They're really nice people, and even the customers waiting for their orders are friendly. I seem to always get the same thing...fried shrimp...because I like it enough that I seldom explore the menu further. But when I have, the blackened salmon salad and the cheeseburger are two other favorites. Today I got the catfish filets and onion rings for lunch, and I'm already trying to justify going back for dinner later! I decided to take a minute to write this review because I really want to see this type of small business do well in our community. So try them out.

I purchased 50 wings for $60.00 recently. When I got home, the wings were wrong. I called and called for the remainder of the night with no answer. The mailbox was full and nobody ever answered

I finally got ahold of someone two days later to express my concerns. I was told that there was nothing they could do because I ordered online. I would have called, but I could not get anyone to answer.

I then was told "let me talk to the manager and I'll call you back, but I don't think you're going to get a refund!"

Well, I never got a call back and i sure didn't get my refund for wings that were wrong and basically not able to eat them.

This place is in the edge of the hood with a laundromat next door. I called ahead and asked why I should eat there, and they said, because we are the best thing in Monticello. Sounded good to me when i was traveling through. I called while in Shady Dale and they had it ready when I got there. THESE ARE SOME OF THE BEST WINGS I HAVE HAD SINCE PRE-COVID. NO JOKE. Onion Rings needed a light sprinkle of salt and would have been perfect. If you are a high society wannabe and think you have a discriminating palet, this is not for you.
