I was hungry from a 'drive from the big city' and thinking of all the places I could eat, I chose the Cornerstone Restaurant in Monticello. Now this 'generic' " boring belly" kinda guy ordered the basic Bacon Cheeseburger( with BBQ sauce.During the short wait for the cookery to finish, I absorbed the general atmosphere of the "new" (to me) confectionary's delightful location. a soft earthtoned multi level seating arrangement, and listened to some of the "family" conversations going on. Being a small town scenario, lots of people knew each other ( of which I found quickly why), and the staff all have smiles as they truly enjoy the presence of their customers. Upon the arrival of my "test", I grinned. I tried to remember the last time I grinned at a "burger" arriving to me. The presentation is oustanding, a piece of art within it's own view, and the served temperature was piping hot. The Bun is outstanding quality as the beef part (both taste and texture, and what the chef did with the bacon, I've not experienced before today! Now I'm not going to disclose the options to standard fries, as I would be spoiling the exploratives a new customer will experience, but I will say, I was fed Just right! not overly filled, but that "just perfect" satisfaction of the best burger I've had in 20 some years!. It really is a treat to have a "mental image" point of perspective blown all to smithereens as the Cornerstone does. Now, as I was finishing, I overheard an important conversation which got me thinking about how important ALL the staff is. Not only does the Cornerstone Resaurant serve my (customers') food needs and wants, They serve our Monticello Community with the same care, of which the Cornerstone Staff is a VERY Valid part! Another kool Part? I could tell by the rich tastes of my food, that this is also a "heart healthy" establishment! The next visit, I won't...
Read moreI work in the food industry, which I realize makes me have a higher standard but this review is a fair assignment of our experience… I took my sons out for breakfast, we ordered the eggs Benedict and Ranchos… first they did came 45 minutes after ordering with no apology and luke warm at best m and burnt toast that I ordered extra…I asked the server to take the toast off and she brought me new bread that was so cold that the butter didn’t even melt…. Since the fuss was luke warm, I would give the food a 5 out of 10 and presentation and taste. Then, to top off my expensive and disappointing breakfast, I get outside and someone is parked behind my car so can’t move and left me a note to tell me that I have to come in to ASK THEM to move their car because I made a mistake and didn’t see a tiny sign that indicated where I parked was the loading zone. It was OBVIOUSLY a mistake and what was this woman’s purpose, to embarrass me, shame me for making a mistake? There was an entire parking lot but sure chose to make her rude point… Regardless of her intentions, it was Unnecessary! It shows someone who’s is a control FREAK plus a lack of basic humanness…Obviously doesn’t care about customer service. Were she right? Yeah, I made a mistake but she was wrong in her actions! My lack of observation most likely came from just being sick for 10 days, this was my (our) first outing since and this establishment had come highly recommended… wow…I will NEVER be back to the corner stone café And have no problem...
Read moreThis use to be a good place for food. Recently we were there for breakfast on Sunday Morning and noticed first that tables seated 15 to twenty minutes seated after us were getting their food, when we asked the waitress about this she could not of been nicer told us she had already been asking in the kitchen and apologized. When our food arrived a few minutes later my eggs Benedict sauce was a strange color of light brown and when I tasted it it was salty turkey gravy. The waitress went to the kitchen to check on it and was told that was the way it always looked. By this time we had been waiting a long time. And the waitress was embarrassed and offered new food.I scrapped all the turkey gravy off my eggs ate only my hash browns and one egg. The assistant manager cleared our plates and I told her about the gravy over my eggs, she went back to taste it and had them take it off and make the correct sauce not gravy. This was already after 11am on a Sunday morning so just think of all the people that morning had ordered eggs Benedict served with turkey gravy. A good kitchen staff would of known by the brown color it was either burnt or wrong sauce. Very disappointed in new owners and lack of good kitchen and management staff. Won't be going back...
