Moon Donuts & Cafe — Restaurant in Monticello

This is an update to my earlier review. Despite my very bad (one star) first experience, I have come here a handful of times since then and my experience was good every time. I personally haven't had their breakfast sandwiches or food, but their donuts and cookies are the best in town.

The coffee is ok. I ordered a cold press coffee once and I'm pretty sure it was just iced coffee, not cold brewed. The two taste very different. If I get anything to drink from now on it would be tea, since they have TeaSource brand teas here! My favorite TeaSource tea, Blue Beauty Oolong, doesn't seem to be available but they do have a good selection.

If you want to get any food or coffee beverages on a Saturday morning, be prepared to wait a while. However if you only get donuts, you are helped very promptly.

I was here the other afternoon and the employees were working very hard to repair the couch inside, not sitting around just because it wasn't busy. Nice to see!

All in all, there is room for improvement, but I have enjoyed coming here and have noted the improvement in service since my first experience. Thank you!

Just went here for the first time. The food is pretty decent but we were there for almost an hour before we got the sandwiches and coffee we ordered. Apparently we were forgotten. Ridiculous. Will not be coming back. Had to leave without eating because it was my baby's nap time by the time they got around to us. Do not recommend unless you have a whole morning or...

My partner woke up this morning from a magical dream of donuts. They were persistent in begging me to come along to try out Moon Donuts Cafe. I caved and we soon later found ourselves in the parking lot full of anticipation. We walked in and found ourselves in a cute and warm dining atmosphere. The bakery cases were filled with different varieties of donuts and pastries, to which my partner's eyes widened and sparkled. I went with a fruit Danish and they got a coffee, ultimate burrito, and a Bavarian donut. Fairly cheap, presentation was gorgeous. The minute my partner's burrito arrived, his eyes already ate it. Beautiful cross section, huge burrito, happy partner.

They then took a massive bite into the Bavarian donut, with an immediate response of "Wow. So fluffy. Why?" My curiosity overcame me and I took a bite. Truly fluffy, and delicious filling. My fruit danish was just delicious and we left happier than we came.

I'll start by saying the staff were great, friendly and attentive.

It might be capable of being a good donut shop but they're clearly not doing the required regular cleaning and maintenance.

The donuts were fine, although I think they're going a little too long between changing the oil in the fryers.

The coffee was bad though -- we got a drip brew and an iced latte, and both tasted like the equipment hadn't been cleaned properly in a long time. I only drank half of the drip brew before throwing it out, and the iced latte got about two sips before it went in the trash.
