Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Moon Township

I was so excited when this Rita’s originally opened. The employees were so kind and the product was great. I have been so eagerly waiting for this location to reopen and it finally did! My fiancé and I rushed out as soon as we could when we saw the open sign. It wasn’t too busy when we were there and we took some time to look over the menu since there are a lot of options. However, while we were looking, this older guy that seemed to be running things started calling out to the line, telling everyone to come up when we are ready and they offer samples. We weren’t ready so I offered for the people behind us to go, but they weren’t ready either. Then, the guy calls out again with a bit of an attitude and started pushing us to make a decision. He said something about make a decision because they are trying to clear everyone out. Which was odd because they were still open for another couple hours and it still wasn’t that busy. Then he physically comes out of the store and pushes everyone in line to make their decision again. At that point, we just ordered something to get out of there. We ate behind the store and then headed out. As we were leaving, we saw the same guy outside again pushing the next people to make a decision. I love how close this place is to my house, but I felt so uncomfortable and rushed that I may just suck it up and drive to a further location next time. The kids working the store weren’t very friendly either. They seemed disinterested in being there and weren’t very welcoming. They also seemed uncomfortable. Honestly, I’m really disappointed. I’m hoping that guy calms it down a bit if I try this...

Went to the newly opened Rita’s in moon tonight. Probably won’t go back again as the portions are the same here at the Rita’s as they are for the Moon Chipotle. I’m not sure why moon restaurants short change you on portions compared to their Robinson or the North Hills counterparts. Got a few gelatis (one large normal gelati, and one “large” 5 layer gelati). When I received the 5 layer gelati, it was much smaller than the large normal gelati. I asked if this was a large, and the cashier told me there was only one size to the 5 layer version. On top of that, they couldn’t even give the full topping of custard. Also, being charged $0.85 for sprinkles which they forgot at first is a little absurd. We had to ask again for them and the cashier seemed annoyed. Guess we will continue to go to the one behind Settler’s Ridge since they don’t skimp you on...

I had a great experience tonight at this Rita's location. The staff and new owner were great to my family and I. This was our first time at a Rita's, so we took a little while to make our decision. The girl who took our order was very patient with us and answered all of the questions we had. Once we paid, the owner popped out of the window to confirm our order and even offered to add hot fudge to one of our items for free. After we had our custard and were sat down, we saw the owner come out and offer a complementary pup-cup to a cute dog. Overall, we felt very comfortable here and will definitely be back. I can only imagine the stress that comes with taking over a business, but the new owner is taking it in stride and...
