Where are you people with the high ratings generally eating!?!? Is your pallet destroyed?
Wow, where do I start? I first decided to eat here seeing as how the reviews were top notch. That was my first mistake. We showed up and noticed a parking lot that my truck really couldn't maneuver in so I decided to take up two spots considering it was early still. Walk inside and notice it's kind of small but clean which I could respect. Next the orders, that went well. The chips and salsa came out. Ummm, if you can call that salsa. Tasted more like spaghetti sauce with a Mexican twist. Then my dad's order came out looking like cheap TV dinner food 😡 then was told my order didn't get put in, I had the little bit of everything plate. I finally get my food and the best part was the amount of food. Everything was bland, the enchilada (or everything sauce because it was on everything) was more like plain tomato sauce. I hate spemding money on food I dislike! And I really disliked this place. I write this From my water closet because there is a category 5 hurricane in my bowels from eating this disgusting slop. I write this urging anyone wanting Mexican food to just spend a few extra bucks and go to Ted's. The good there is much better, better environment, without side effects. Needless to say I will not...
Read moreLast Thursday I took my father out to eat and he requested Mexican. Unfortunately it was 8:50 at night and all the restaurants closed at 9! A quick search pulled up The Lazy Donkey, a Mexican restaurant located off 12th and Broadway, that was open until 9:30 that night.
What a cute place! The staff was super friendly, and they had these adorable little donkey salt and pepper holders on each table. My father and I decided to split the Texas Fajitas (there were many other options such as regular fajitas, texas fajitas, fajita hawaiian, and fajitas mexicanos) and ordered a double to share.
WOW. The amount of food we got could have easily fed three people, a large plate full of beans, rice and pico de gallo on a bed of lettuce for each of us and a huge sizzling skillet mounded with a variety of meats and sautéed peppers and onions. It tasted just as good as it looked. My father doesn't like shrimp at all and they easily made it on the side just for me.
I am very happy to be moving to an area with such a great little Mexican joint 10 minutes down the road! I'm definitely going to be a repeat customer and I can't wait to bring my...
Read moreThis place always has cars in it's parking lot which I assumed was a good sign. But just like Luigis that was not a good indicator. First you must pay for the queso and tortillas, the queso was runny and not spiced well( also costs $4) and the tortillas were not fresh in fact the flour were super hard to bite through even though they were warm, as if they were old and they just threw them in a warmer for a minute or two and the tortilla chips are thick and store bought. My fiance and I went for lunch, the portions were as you would expect, the beef was disappointing and the chicken has a weird flavor to it, the sour cream is off as well. Again, if you want cheese sauce(queso) on anything you must pay an extra $1. As you can see they seem to be nickle and diming people but for some reason people keep going. The waitstaff is okay at best, they seem to congregate at the front of the restaurant and you must wave them over (if you can get their attention).
In my opinion if you want a local mexican restaurant I would stick...
